Suboxone And Drugs
UpdatedTalking about suboxone last tuesday I took 1 (8)mg Suboxone April 6, 2010 , on the next day April 7, 2010 , I had 13 teeth removed from the front all the way to the back right top and bottom they was rotten from all the past drug use I have done, when I got to the oral surgern the gave me Valium , Versed, and Drmerol . I did not get high but was knocked out and did not feel anything till the Versed worn off, I did not advise the surgeon of my Suboxone use till that night he was not at all worried about it and sent me home with a RX of demerol 50 mg was told to take 1-2 every 4-6 hours as needed for pain with the Suboxone still in my system I did not get the effect of the high ( buzz) of it but it did take the pain away the next day Thursday he gave me another rx of 20 Demerol 50 mg with no problem so yes you can take pain meds while on Suboxone but won't get high off it that dis not bother me as long as I had no pain at all

I'd like to add a note of caution for anyone reading this in the future...
Suboxone WILL negate other opiates, it was deliberately designed this way to help prevent the abuse of opiates, while someone is being treated with it. It binds to the opiate receptors in the brain, and takes a very stubborn hold on them, it will kick out other opiates that are already in there, which is why taking it too soon can cause precipitated withdrawals, and it will not allow new ones to take hold.

However, as with all medications, it does only remain in your body for a certain amount of time, before your body eliminates it, and other opiates will work, again, which is why it must be taken on a regular dosing schedule. Additionally, its actions are dose dependent, so it can be overridden by different combinations, and dosages of other medications, although for your safety, only a doctor should decide if that's appropriate, and what medications can be safely used to do so.
It was very risk to have the surgery performed, without informing the doctor about having taken the Suboxone. You should always inform your doctor of everything you are taking, especially if you are going to be undergoing a procedure. Withholding such information is very risky, since a bad interaction could put your life in danger.
Demerol itself is a semi-weak analgesic, though the FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache.

Is there anything I can help with?
