Suboxone And Oxycodone Rx

I have been taking Suboxone for approximately 3 weeks. I was taking opiates, legally, for four+ years but recently I had problems after surgery by increasing my dosages and eventually running out quite often which lead all my doctors to a rehab place. I went through 3 weeks of Intensive Outpatient Treatment which was complete crap but it kept me busy during the morning. I now have an Rx from my PCP who KNOWS about me being on Suboxone and said to stop the Suboxone for a couple/few days and then start the Oxy's. Here's my question: Can I fill the Rx for OxyIR when I'm going to be picking up my most recent Rx of Suboxone tomorrow? I feel like the pharmacy might be thinking it's Doctor Shopping but if they call my PCP, he knows about the Suboxone use. He desperately thinks I need the Oxy's because of my extreme pain from surgery and physical therapy. These last 3 weeks have been awful. I want to be able to use the OxyIR responsibly for the 3 weeks he has prescribed it for. He prescribed 84 count, 15mg OxyIR to take 4x daily prn pain. We all know what all that means obviously. So if you add it up 28*3 = 84. After I stop the OxyIR he wants me to go through a little withdrawal and then start the Suboxone Treatment again. Here's the problem -- the Dr doing the Suboxone doesn't know about the OxyIR script and I'm also wondering if the pharmacy will call both my PCP and the DR prescribing Suboxone to approve the filling of Oxy's? I am picking my Suboxone up in one state and then going to another state which is where I legally live to fill the Oxy script if all goes well. I don't know what to do! I don't think my Doc prescribing the Subs will let me stop to take the medication that I abused recently but I DO have chronic pain. The suboxone doesn't do s#!t for it. I don't want to take too much Tylenol either.

The main issue here outside of your agreements with the doctors involved is the fact that Suboxone contains both the narcotic Buprenorphine and Naloxone, which is an ingredient that actually neutralizes other narcotics, to prevent their abuse, while someone is under treatment with it.

Thus, the Oxycodone is really not going to have any effect.

Additionally, there is no 15mg OxyIR. The instant release formulation is only available in 5mg capsules. Any higher dosage than that is either in the regular release formulation, or the time released formulation.

As to your doctor and pharmacy's policies, no one can answer you on that, since we don't know what they might be, but you would probably be wise to check into it and to check into finding what will work to treat your pain, while you're on the Suboxone.
