Suboxone Op 80 Methadone
UpdatedI have been taking 40mg methadone everyday for almost a year now and I really would like to switch to suboxone. I know you can't take suboxone until you've had atleast 48hrs from your last dose of methadone, so yesterday and today I've taken an op 80 instead. My question is will I be able to take a suboxone tomorrow and not go into immediate w/d since it will be over 48 from last methadone dose? Or Should I be taking something else instead of op 80s to make the switch? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Actually, you have to be in full withdrawal, from everything, before you can take Suboxone, so that means you can't be taking the Oxycontin, either.
Suboxone actually contains 2 active ingredients, the narcotic Buprenorphine, coupled with Naloxone to prevent the abuse of other opiates, while someone is under treatment with it. Thus, taking it while you still have any other opiate in your system can throw you into full, dangerous withdrawals.

Have you considered getting medical assistance with this?
What dosage is the Suboxone that you have?
Actually, you should be getting subutex so you don't get sick. I would inquire about that for at least a few months before you go straight to suboxone. That's what the doctors are supposed to do. But you actually taper yourself off while you're on the subutex. All that is the bupenorphine without the naloxone which is the drug that makes you sick. If it's done this way you don't have to be in full withdrawal. Personally I feel that's too dangerous and can could easily cause relapse. Talk to the new doctor about starting out with just the subutex and working your way up to suboxone. You have to be very careful because even though you don't feel anything on either drug you can overdose if you take too much opiate related drugs.
