Stopped Lo Loestrin Fe 5 Days Ago- Still No Period (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for 4 months now and i have only had 1 peroid and that was in the first month. I have continued having weird reactions so i have chosen to stop the pill. I stopped it on a blue pill 3 days before i switched to the white. It has been 5 days now and still no period. When should I expect to get it? Pregnancy test was neg a week ago. This drug just really seems to have me messed up. Anyone have any helpfull info? Thanx!

I am a 25 year old and I was on loestrin FE from 2007-2012 and then from 2012-2014 was on Lo Loestrin - I hadn't had a period the entire time I was on the pill starting with my first week. I stopped taking my pill June 18, 2014 and started my period today, July 11, 2014. I can't really remember what it was like to have one, but my cramps are intense, like crippling, but I really can't recall having craps or not before, as I started my period in the summer of 2005. The only bad side effect I experienced was SERIOUS nausea. But that is it! My doctor said that it was likely I wouldn't get a period for 3-4 months AFTER I stopped the pill, but I started within a month, its a regular flow - a little heavier this morning than now - but seems to be okay now. (Minus the cramps, ouch.) My gyno is one of the best in my state - and when she told me I could stop my pill (in April) she scheduled an appointment with me for a follow up to make sure everything was going okay since I was on the pill for so long (and because I am looking to get pregnant as well.) My follow up is the end of August. She also placed me on prescribed prenatals to start taking the day AFTER I stopped my birth control, I started those June 19, 2014. I don't know if whatever they are has helped or changed my outcome.

Not every story is a horror story! This pill was great for me, however I was placed on it for medical issues, not as actual "birth control."

I have been off lo lo Estrin fe for 6 weeks and still no period:( Getting worried, I'm not trying to conceive and my husband has been using condoms and so I'm going to take a preg. Test but the reason why I got off lo lo Estrin fe in the first place was because I had been on it for 2 months and the first I spotted and the second month I had my period for 3 weeks straight (heavy bleeding)on top of other symptoms...I was very emotional and just didn't feel like my self. I stopped taking it at the end of March and my period finally stopped 4 days later but now I haven't got my period at all:/ Has anyone else experienced this?

I was on it for 2 years, no period, it's a normal reaction. Just be patient. Your body will get used to it. I had no problems. It even cleared my skin. To have something really work for you, give it at least 6 months. Off course stop the pill on more severe reactions. But to clear the normal part about the period, I got scared to with no period. I called my Doctor and she said it was normal. Hope this helps.

Yes, I had pain in my abdomen for the first couple of weeks after ending it. From what I've been told, it's your body getting rid of/used to not having the steady dose of hormones...

I had been on Lo Loestrin Fe for years, and had many symptoms I could not pinpoint. Weight gain, depression to the point of being medicated, no period, high blood pressure to point of medication, lack of libido, thinning vaginal walls resulting in painful intercourse. I was taken off a few weeks ago, due to BP, and noticed less of an appetite, increase in libido, feeling "like myself" again, lessening of pain during intercourse. Get off this BC if you can. Not worth the physical side effects. My new GYN offered to place a Mirena, but after much discussion, my hubby is getting a vasectomy. I am 42, have been on BC pills since 17, and I feel good about coming off. I'm also using an estrogen cream, planning to add progesterone. Again, I feel a lot better.

I was on Lo Loestrin Fe for 3 months and got a period once around the 2nd week of month 2. I finished my last pack 3 weeks ago and still no period. Pregnancy tests are all negative. I don't trust this pill, too many side effects (including weight gain). Once my body goes back to it's regular schedule I'm going back on Loestrin 24Fe

Hi all. I am loestrin and have also after the second month stopped getting my period. Feel a lot better after reading on here that you have all experienced the same thing! I have previously taken other contraceptive pills since the age of 16 and a couple of years ago decided to take a break... I had an initial withdrawal bleed and after that it took me nearly 3months to actually have period because of all the hormones left behind by the pill. I was however made aware of this by my doctor and am surprised your doctors have not made you aware of this!! Give it month or so and your cycle should return to normal. Good luck conceiving ladies! Xx

Missing periods is normal on this pill. I'm not sure that's really healthy though. Been on this pill for 9 months and haven't had a period since month two and no pregnancies either!

I only took this pill for 3 weeks, and still haven't had a period after being off of the pill for about 4 weeks now.. is this normal? Should it make my period late if I was only on it for 3 weeks?

Yes, I experienced that while I was on that pill. I have been off of it for a month now and I am still experience some adverse symptoms like cramping, bloating and headaches... none related to period though. While I was on it I did have pain during intercourse and I believe it was because the pill causes women to lose their sex drive, which meant physically sex was more trying because of the lack of lubrication. I suggest going off of this pill. I feel so much better... even with all the random coming-down side effects. I felt like a mad woman on that pill!

No ma'am you aren't alone. I was on it for 10 months and when I stop it was like I spotted for like two weeks (so weird) then it stopped and I didn't get my period for about two months and in that time is when I had the stomach pressure, back pain, and nausea and I really thought I was pregnant already and the other morning when I woke up it was that back pain and pressure times ten but now I feel better and no more pressure. When stopped taking it I was reading about people getting major blood clots from this med and I was thinking I should have read that sooner. I'm glad we now know we aren't the only ones that has the same symptoms ;)

Hey, all. I was recently looking for answers to the same questions posed here. Today I finally got in to see my gynecologist, and she put me on a different pill immediately. I, too, was experiencing all the symptoms: fatigue, bloating, weight gain, breakouts, irritability, loss of libido, no periods or weird bleeding, discharge, you name it. She said the extremely low amount of hormones can really mess a girl up if she's sensitive (which I'd expect the opposite, right?). Anyway, you should all expect to see your bodies go back to normal soon.

In the mean time, ask a doctor! They know best and can help you get back on track.

Figured I'd write something since I was reading this forum freaking out like the rest of you a couple weeks ago.

I was on lo loestrin fe for about 7 months. I had absolutely no problems and loved it! I only experienced VERY slight spotting (if you can even call it that since it was so light) on the brown pills each month until they completely disappeared during my 5th month on the pill. About 1 week into my 5th pack I had really heavy breakthrough bleeding. I was SUPER worried because it was during the blue pills and I had never had breakthrough bleeding whatsoever since starting the pill.

The following 2 months I continued taking the pill normally but never had any bleeding/spotting since that breakthrough bleeding instance. I was anxiety ridden and basically came to the paranoid conclusion I was pregnant. I took 4 tests all spaced out over the next couple weeks and all negative. I got so paranoid I finally stopped taking the pill at the end of my 7th pack so I would get my period and quit freaking out.

I stopped the pill and still NO PERIOD for about 25 days. I was going crazy! I read all about cervical mucus and trying to predict if I ovulated, if I was EVER going to get my period... or if I had to face my fears and realize I was truly pregnant. I became a true crazy woman! Then my period finally came on day 25 and it also came along with the WORST cramps I have ever had. I remembered why I went on the pill in the first place! If you are worried you are pregnant, take a test! If the test is negative, don't freak out like me and stop the pill. Chances are, you are not pregnant and you can avoid the cramps that come with getting your period again!

Have you consulted your doctor?

It is difficult to say when you may start your menstrual cycle, since as you said, it clearly has your hormones messed up, somewhat.

There are other hormonal contraceptives that you can try, that may work better for you. But only your doctor can help you decide that.

I was on lo loestrin fe for about 4 months in the 4th month, I started getting stomache aches, head aches, pain through out the body, felt pretty sick. I felt so sick I was concerned I was pregnant, I took a test and it was negative. The 2nd day of not taking the blue pill I got my period, but in the 4 months of taking lo loestrin fe, I only spotted twice.
