Stop Taking Plavix Ok?
UpdatedMy doctor had me stop taking plavix after one year. One month later I had another heart attack. Now my doctor has told me to stay on plavix for ever. Has anyone else had a heart attack because they stopped taking plavix?

Plavix contains the active ingredient Clopidogrel, which is used to help inhibit clotting.
Have they directly related your heart attack to clotting from stopping the Plavix?
Rebound effects are always a risk, when someone stops these types of medications abruptly. However, there is no way to know if any given person may experience them.

Yes, both of my doctors said it was most likely that I stoped the plavix that caused the heart attack. So they now have said for me stay stay on it for the rest of my life. I check with anoth group of doctors in another city and they also have had their patients stay on plavix for life once they start it.
I have two DES, after one year my Doctor stopped my
Plavix. Can Plavix be restarted after one month.
the generic form is out, unfortunately, the cost is only $10.00's less. That's the most stupid thing I have ever come across. What was the point in a generic, if its no cheaper?
I was placed on Plavix after Quad By Pass but after 1 year Doctor stopped
prescribing it . 5 months later had severe anginia episodes and had to have stents placed then put on Brilinta but
due to massive bruseing and shortness of breath when taking it was put back on plavix. (also Plavix much less expensive)
Is there any new information on stopping Plavix? I went in Nov. 2014 for a stent. The cardio doc ruptured the wall of the artery forcing me to have immediate open heart surgery. They did 4 bypasses and 4 stents. I was put on Plavix and baby aspirin. Now, Aug. 2017 the doctor just took me off Plavix saying I didn't need it any longer. I'm frightened. After reading what happens when you stop. Most of what I read is years old so that is why I am asking about new studies and or research. Or actual events.
