Smz Tmp Ds Side Effects Of Bipolar Reaction

MY NIECE WAS PRESCRIBED THIS SMZ DS
800/160 AND WITHIN A DAY STARTED A MANIC
LIKE BEHAVIOR. THIS BECAME WORSE AND
AFTER THE 10 DAYS SHE WAS IN A ACUTE
PSYCHOSIS. THE DOCTORS ARE TELLING THIS
WOULD NOT BE FROM THE MEDICATION. I HAVE
RESEARCHED THIS AND THIS IS NOT TRUE!
THERE WAS MANY CASES BUT OFTEN NOT
COMMON BUT SOME PEOPLE DO DEVELOP
THIS BIPOLAR LIKE REACTION. IT HAS BEEN MORE THEN 16 DAYS AND IT IS NOT GOING AWAY!
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO COUNTER ACT THE
EFFECT? PLEASE FORWARD ANY INFORMATION ON OTHER PEOPLES SIDE EFFECTS LIKE THIS!

Unfortunately, this antibiotic which is a generic for Bactrim is very problematic to some people and does cause very odd reactions. I had some odd problems with it myself several weeks ago and my doctor has listed it under my allergies in my medical records with strict instructions that it never be prescribed to me again for any reason.

As to the problem she's experiencing, I can't definitively say that it's from the medication, but if it is, the only thing that will clear it up is time and this one can take several weeks to fully clear out of her body and for the side effects to stop. One of my reactions was a skin rash and severe hives and they kept coming back for almost a month.

In the future, it might be best if she stay away from sulfa drugs, just to be on the safe side.
