Hi helen,

Ambien is the most common brand name I can think of in this drug category. In clinical trials Ambien has not adequately demonstrated effectiveness in maintaining sleep (unless delivered in a controlled-release form); however, it is effective in initiating sleep. Another brand name is Ativan, which is more geared towards relaxing and relieving anxiety.
