I am taking Istamet (Sitagliptin 50 mg + Metformin 500 mg) before lunch over the last month and Trivolib, 1 in morning and night ( over the last year). After taking Istamet 50/500, I lost 4 kilos weight. My sugar count is 124 Fasting 143 PP. Can I stop Istamet? When I asked the Dr. he said if I stop then I have to shift to Insulin. I am confused and wonder whether to stop Istamet and do walking and dieting. Pl suggest.
UpdatedI have been taking Istamet 50/500 regularly in the morning. Can it cause any side effects to the kidney or any other part of the body? I've been taking it for the last 2 years. I am also a brain stroke patient and am taking Atorva-20, Clopivas-150, and Homochek. Please advise me about Istamet use and if it's okay for me or not. Thanks.
