Simvastatin Allergy?

I started taking 20 mg of simvastatin about 6 days ago. I haven't had any problems except for a mild headache. But last night, something happened that is really freaking me out. I don't know if I should continue to take the medication. I took my pill after supper around 6 p.m. I went to bed around 11. As soon as I laid down, I felt a tightness in my chest and like I couldn't catch my breath. I don't have asthma and have never expereinced anything like this before. I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath. I also started yawning one after another for about 15 minutes. I read the leaflet for this drug that I received from the pharmacy. It listed shortness of breath and tightness in the chest as a sign of an allergic reaction? Should I take my pill tonight and see if it happens again? Should I call my doctor? I'm not sure what my next move should be.

You should contact your doctor immediately, if you haven't already done so.

The chest tightness, breathing issues and yawning like that could be symptoms of a serious health problem and you should seek medical attention.

Contrary to popular belief, yawning really doesn't signify that are just tired, it is actually your body trying to take in more Oxygen. Breathing rates may be lowered, if you are tired, but tiredness in and of itself is not the sole reason that yawning occurs.

These symptoms may have been caused by a reaction the medication, or they could be signs of heart block, or heart failure and only your doctor is going to be able to help you discover what's causing the problem.
