Side Effects Of Suboxone (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been on suboxone now for just under a month. I think it is an amazing drug, i have had no cravings or interest in returning to opiates, my drug of choice was oxy. I get up every day feeling happy, and am able to take on what ever the day brings me. I am also on lexapro for depression at this time. There is one problem after i take my dose, which is 8 mg. twice a day, I am extremely tired sometimes to the point where if i sit down I will nod off, so I keep moving and can usually fight through it. I am wondering do other people feel this way or does it get better the longer you are on it? Two other things that are sometimes very bothersome are dizzyness and extreme dry mouth. I just wanted to find out other peoples experiences. Thanx

It's enough if it keeps you from withdrawaling. By .25 I mean cut your 2 mg strip into 8 pieces. If you want to stop the best way to do it is to reduce your current dose by around 10% every 10-12 days. With each drop you'll feel slight irritations for a day or two and then you'll stabilize. Once your feeling good stay there for a few days & then drop. Keep doing that until you're down in the .25 mg range.

Does that make sense? I hope I'm explaining it well enough.

yeah doctors over prescribe you the sub so that you will get addicted to it easily so that they can write you a ton of prescriptions, soo that they can make more and more money. doctors are drug dealers with degrees. especially and usually only when it comes to prescribing suboxone. they do this on purpose, dont give in to their nasty tricks...ween off of your sub as fast and as much as you can. it can cause the worst withdrawals, worse withdrawals than heroin withdrawals..it is SO hard to completely get off of it, this is why i ask everyone who reads this to try and ween off of it as soon as they can, and obviously take as little as you can each day so that it's easier to get off completely.

I have been on Suboxone for about 4 years now. My drug of choice was heroin. I started taking hydro's and went from them to anything I could get my hands on . It was terrible.......I was spending up to 500 dollars a day on pills just for myself. My day revolved around pills......I would get up in the morning and take whatever I had left and then the chasing game was on. EVERY contact in my phone was someone I could get pills from. Next thing I knew there was a dry spell on pills.....I went through withdrawal for days and couldn't take it anymore. I called a friend of a friend and asked if they could find me anything........the only thing they could get was the heroin..........I did something I said I would never do......I bought it and snorted it. From then on I fell in with the wrong people and started shooting it. One night I was partying with some friends when one of my good friends had gotten some bad dope............after seeing that happen I KNEW I had to get some help. I called my Dr and they referred me to the Suboxone Dr I am seeing. I have been clean for four years now. I know a lot of people on here have been saying that Suboxone is so bad but it saved my life. My drs office is great and they don't just shove a script in your hand and tell you see ya next month. I might make people mad on here but people have to do what's best for THEMSELVES. Maybe some ppl Suboxone isn't the answer but for me it was. I have my husband and my children and my life is great now.......my advice to ppl is to do what's best for you.......I know if I had stayed doing what I was doing I would be dead...........I'm not going to say that I'm not worried about stopping Suboxone but for now I'm taking it one day at a time. That's the only thing that you can do.

I'd say Suboxone maintenance is much less lethal then being addicted to H or prescription pills Lisa.

Cars if driving recklessly, or food when eating excessively, are known to kill because of MISUSE.

Go preach your paranoia elsewhere, not to people like us who, mild side effects aside, Suboxone has been a life saver. I've read up on extensive research and the only preventable deaths I've come across associated with Suboxone use are people who procure it illegally and use it without doctor monitoring.

Now rain your ill advised opinions on someone who hasn't seen their friends or family die, or close because of addiction and turned our lives around with Suboxone. I'll take mild constipation, weight gain etc in place of ruining my family's lives over dope.

Troll.

.ive been taking 2 8mg tabs 4 aprx a year and a half. the first week i had trouble sleeping but that stopped i also take a sleeping pill as well. i have experienced the nodding off and i think its because the opiate dossage for that day was too much.like most drugs, they will affect you differently on how you are doing on that day.my biggest complaint is that it has destroyed my sex life im 52 yrs old but i should still have some fire down bellow.

I have been on Suboxone for a little over a year now. I was taking 12 10 mg Norco a day before I decided I had to make a change for the betterment of my life. My wife and I have noticed that there is quite a big difference in my sleepyness. I do tend to dose off several times in the day and evening. I only take 3 2.5 mg tabs a day. I would like to stop taking the suboxone because after being addicted to the norco for 4 years from back surgery. I am kind of Anti Pill now. I have for about the last 6-8 months been experiencing a "disconnected" feeling in my head, heart palpitations, and sometimes lighted headed and or dizzy. I am a little scared now from reading about the withdrawl from the SUB. I was duped by my dr. when they told me it was not an Opiate or an addictive medication. I just don't know what to do.

so I was addicted to pain killers in general for about 4 years. I would take anything I could get my hands on. and it would be a huge amount of pills in 1 day.

I finally found out about suboxin from my tattoo artist best friend. he referred me to his dr he gets them from. I live in Nevada and there's a pill epademic here. I asked the dr if this would be trading an evil for another. I don't want to get addicted to suboxin and withdrawl.

I've been taking little pieces of sub mg 8. and it's a miracle drug. no detox, I do also have the nodding off stage though after taking some. I also get muscle twitches. idk if it's the sub or not.

I can see the sub being another money pit for the pharmacies and drs tho. I do think if not used properly you will just trade one addiction for another. it's something "too good to be true". I'm just going to take my sub for a month and do counsleling

I have been on sub for 22 months. It was used to get me off the Fent patches. I was on 200 mil of fent for over four years! I quit sub on my own, and have slept about 9 hrs in 9 days, with all the usual opiate withdrawl symptons. It's odd not sleeping for up to 3-4 days at a time, then fall down for four hrs sleep. HELL on earth, but am sick and tired of making drug company's rich. I used to be a auto worker with a busted back for 24 years, I needed pain meds. Then my job went to China. The drug was expensive the last few years with no benefits, but it is the hardest thing I have ever quit in my life. My advice, never take this drug long term or excede 8 mil a day. I have never used herion or street drugs for pain, thank god, because if the withdrawl is worse then what I am going threw now, I would probably with to just die. Suboxone is EVIL if used long term,,,,amen

Give me a break, you will be saying that till you go off and severely withdraw from the subs for a very long time possibly months. Then wind up back using your D.O.C. , I know this because I did it and so did so many others. Just know what your doing, just know what your getting into.

A friend of mine is currently on Suboxone 2mg twice a day. The doc said that she must slowly wean herself from the meds. She started using the meds on the 19th of December - this week is week 4. Question is: can she start with 1mg twice a day for say a week, then 0.5mg twice a day for a week OR can she go to taking 1mg every second evening (she did forget to drink a tablet and was fine) for a week and then 0.5mg every second evening. She experience blurred vision or as she explained "it feels like her eyes is pulling skew when she talks to people and feel embarressed to look at them and rather look to the ground for them not to see what she feels". Not sure how to describe this best but I'm sure you guys will know best. Please people I would love to help her through this difficult time. I would really appreciate a "weaning off schedule" - again, current dose is 2mg twice a day.
