It is possible, other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, stomach pain, and hypoglycemia, according to the NIH. However, letting diabetes rage out of control is far, far more dangerous, so you should take it, if your doctor has instructed you to do so, and just make sure to keep all follow up appointments and have all blood work done to check kidney function, as they deem appropriate.
