I have a 'block' in my left Basilar artery in the brain area.
I have, in Feb 2011, undergone MRI with contrast and it came up with 60-70% blockage in my Basilar Artery. I was advised to undergo angiography and that was done on the following day. The neurosurgeon has advised that my Basilar Artery has a very torturous path and has advised against any intervention due to high chance of bleeding during the procedure. I have been advised to take Ecosprin 150 - one tablet a day at bedtime for rest of my life - and take life easy. That is, to avoid any physical exertion, undue excitement and avoid ant jerky movements, like getting out of the bed quickly. I have also been advised not to drive for at least one year.
I am also hypertensive for the past 8-10 years and have been under medication.
My medicines are:
Morning: 1 tab Thyronorm 25mg on empty stomach
1 tab Telma 40 after breakfast
1 cap Rejunex OD after breakfast
After Dinner: 1 tab Atorva 5
1 tab Ecosprin 150
For the past 2-3 months, I have significantly increased incidence of skin eruptions. It generally starts with itching feeling and where ever I scratch, it comes up with some eruption. There is also, infrequent, incidence of swelling that keeps on shifting - it may start on one side of my face, then, by itself, move to the other side of the face and it may also move to my lips with lips becoming three times their normal size. It also moves to my testicles and to the skin of my penis.
Last week I consulted an allergy specialist. I was put through an elaborate allergy test to see the effect of 40 possible allergies and was advised that I was allergic to milk & milk products, white of an egg, chicken, meat, dust, pollen, mosquito bite and mosquito repellents.
On discussion with the doctor on the fact that I was not allergic till about a few months back, the doctor indicated that 'Ecosprin' may be the culprit and I was advised to avoid Ecosprin.
Kindly give your assessment of my condition and suggest an alternate blood thinner as a substitute to Ecosprin 150.
I will be happy to provide any further info that may be required.
Thanks in advance.
Suresh
