Never again will i take this med. I was supposed to be on it for 10 days twice a day for a uti. 4 doses later and 3 trips to the ER, rapid heart and feeling dehydrated, the dr on my third ER trip said to completely stop taking it cause there is no infection anymore and labs are good. With this medication ive had really bad side effects. Ive been off it for almost 24 hours and still having side effects...cant sleep, muscle spasms, occasional rapid heart beat. Dr told me rather than going to the ER for it, just relax and stay hydrated.

Yes I would be very careful. No one told me anything would go wrong with my mental health after taking Bactrim. My symptoms have become much worse and it's been months since I stopped the drug. I have read up on it, and has caused a lot of people with depression and anxiety to get worse. Even suicides. The Drs need to warn us of the effects before giving us the medication. I'm very upset by this and I still feel awful.

It's been terrible. The first month was scary!! I never felt that low and out of it before. Since then I have some good days but I'm no where back to how I was before I took the Bactrim. Drs really need to warn people of the dangerous side effects especially if your already suffering from major depression and anxiety. I can't even think clearly anymore and most days I'm in a brain fog. Unable to concentrate or focus. It's been horrible

I did try probiotics for a while. It didnt seem to improve anything. My stomach was constantly groaning and cramping. Not sure if I was on them long enough to fix the problems. I was on them about two months. Still has issues from time to time. I'm definitely not feeling back to the way I was before Bactrim

I was walking daily everyday prior to Bactrim. I have not exercised much at all since. My diet is awful. Some days I only eat once a day, and don't drink enough fluids. And usually something quick to make, not healthy. My depression is so severe at times I don't care about myself at all. I know not eating enough or drinking enough can make you feel worse. But I have become so low that I have no energy and just feel hopeless. I'm exhausted and I feel like I'm giving up. I have always had bad depression and anxiety. But I was doing okay prior to taking Bactrim, then I plummeted

Well, I have post this again. Don't give up. I wish I had a way to 100% say what I did helped me get over the symptoms I had. Meaning, of course a doctor will say the bactrim didn't cause my symptoms and thus what I did was just coincidence. However...

I had four kids under the age of 6 at the time. Vision that bounced, sever anxiety, depression, nausea in the morning and a dull headache that seemed to just buzz from one temple to the other. Two things stick out. Three. Most days I felt like I was going to have a cardiac event. Second, I was sitting in a chair in my living room one day looking at the front door. And it it seemed like an impossible task to get up and walk to it. Third, I had to drive my kids to a birthday party in Kansas City one morning, and was terrified to leave my house and get on the highway.

But... Here is what I did:

1. Treated my symptoms like I had SIBO, I googled some info on the internet and found a three phase protocol for treating it.

2. For about 2 months straight, I literally at nothing but raw salads, huge raw salads twice a day. Huge amounts of olive oil to replace calories from carbs.

3. This may sound crazy. I took a day off from work one day, didn't tell my wife. Headed to a gym in a large town that had an AED machine. I paid a daily fee, hopped on the treadmill and pushed it as fast as the thing would go off and on for about 30 minutes. It was the turning point for me. One, I realized I wasn't going to have a cardiac event, lol, or at least yet. But, I started to sweat. Next thing I knew I was taking these morning boxing classes and sweating greatly. Google niacin detox. I did not take the niacin but am a believer that I sweat out something.

My changes were drastic. I was scared s***less. I had four kids. Only thing I knew to do was get radical with diet and start exercising.

I had to take a 20-day course of Bactrim for a mild MRSA/regular staph (they're not sure) infection, and about midway through and to this day (3 months later) I have to get up all night to urinate. I've had issues with this before, but they were always sporadic cases that rarely occurred. Now it's a nightly thing, and I have to see a Urologist. Sometimes I have to urinate every 20 minutes while laying there trying to sleep.

Can anyone speak to this please?

I am sorry, I have been dealing with this also. They had to put me on a hormone call desmopressin. It works. It gives me a terrible headache. I have tried a lot of various other things but nothing has worked to great effect.

Will you consider a 2nd or 3rd opinion? I think it would be a good idea to take him to a different hospital, since he isn't getting any better, insist they hook him up to an I.V. In the meantime, give him (salted crackers, iced water, apple juice, & 7-up keep him on this diet until he is feeling his appetite & strength return in 2-4 days. Keep us posted, please. Ummmm, You are allergic to it! WHY would you keep getting it filled? Are you waiting for more toes to get itchy?
anaphylactic shock ? What? Is the same Dr prescribing it? Have to say... never heard of anything more stupid.

Bactrim is evil, I took it 2 weeks ago for a kidney infection & my U/A didn't show anything but my symptoms pointed to it & it was a mild one. I have been taking a Depression med & Anxiety med for 27 years & I went to see a Nurse practitioner where my regular Dr. is, I couldn't see him because he had no openings, I got put on Bactrim Liquid cause I can't swallow big pills anymore & I did take the Bactrim for about 8 days & I had to stop, the side effects was awful, felt like I was dying, btw it tastes horrible too. I'm on day 15 now of being off of it & still having shortness of breath & a few tremors at times, which I have them sometimes anyway.

I have been reading all the stories too about it & I looked up drug interactions & I found that with my doxepin mixing it with Bactrim it causes a potential for significant interaction, monitor closely & they both increase causing a dangerous abnormal heart rhythm, in which I had up until a few days ago, I thought it was going to beat out of my chest. It is better now but it still wants to beat a little fast for 15 to 20 min. at a time & shortness of breath but not as bad as it was. I had a ton of side effects & some of them was the same ones that other people on here was describing. I don't recommend this drug to anyone especially if your allergic & you won't know that until you take it. If your already taking a antidepressant DON'T take Bactrim. I can take Amoxicillin just fine but NO MORE Bactrim for me.

I went to a clinic for a puss drainage of idk what and they prescribed me bactrim, took one pill and I was experiencing shortness of breath, throat closing, couldn't sleep all night because I was worried I was dying. My husband wasn't home (night shifts). Around 7 in the morning I still was not feeling well so I went to the ER. They saw my ear had bumps, just one ear, and my tongue had a white patch with my taste buds inflamed, shortness of breath. Said I'm allergic and gave me prednisone for 5 days. He said it wasn't severe and I don't need much. 5 days after my first ER visit my breathing was not better so I went to a different ER, one that actually took my blood, chest xrays, oxygen levels, and everything came back fine. I was prescribed an inhaler... yet day 12 and still feel like I have a knot in my throat. I try to eat and I'm out breath. I do chores and I'm out of breath. Not as bad as the first few days but still out of breath.

I have 2 babies so I'm just scared. I was so healthy and that ONE clinic messed me up and yes I'm blaming the clinic because both ER doctors said they don't know why she gave me bactrim for puss drainage and why she would leave tape in my wound. It could have cause a severe arm infection. If I wouldn't had gone in for my bactrim allergy, I would've gone still from that tape in my wound, which she claimed will "fall out on its own"??

Never again taking bactrim but who would've though it would get someone sick if a "doctor" prescribes you it.
