I need to know of any side effects that may occur while taking this medication.

Definitly let the doctor know ASAP. This drug can do some unpredictable things.

Yes what Kurt said get to the Doctor but don't rule out it being a bactrum reaction. I'm still trying to recover from November! Keep us posted....

I have to agree worst decision I have ever made as well. Chucked the stuff after 5 days.
Had a kidney infection. Still super dizzy, cold hands and nose ( it's 75 degrees here) panic attacks, no appetite, horrible pain radiating from between shoulders out to ribs, hurts to take a deep breath. Basically scared stupid. Never again with this poison!! Trying to flush with plenty of water, organic fruit and yogurt, soups ( organic ingredients) and taking probiotics as well. I wish everyone well, and here's hoping we all recover.

This stuff I's lethal.. Had a 3 day course.. Severe vomiting severe dizziness.. I stopped taking 2 days ago and I still feel ill... No appetite.. Still dizzy still feel sick and can't stop sweating... NOW I've got a yeast infection... Dehydrated and doctor told me never to take again... Feel so ill...

Yeah, you're not alone sushibabes14. It's been almost 6 months and I'm still feeling the dizziness. Slow improvement and feels like im playing wack-a-mole with my health. Good luck finding a doctor that will take you seriously. I've given up on doctors because none of them want to dig deeper and all basically shrug dumbfounded and send you on your way. They will all tell you it's not the Bactrim. Whatever... I know it triggered something. We are all very sensitive to it and perhaps genetically predisposed to these reactions. I hope you're an exception and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi Kurt.. Yeah well today I did the 30 min water flush as iv done many times..Have to say this afafternoon iv improved greatly... Also took rehydration treatment because I was informed that this antibiotic messes with your electrolytes... Feeling good..

Hi everyone, I posted here a while back about Bactrim and Cipro--- I have read these latest replays and I have to agree. Not many Dr will ever say it was caused by Bactrim or Cipro-- BECAUSE THEY GET TO MANY KICK BACKS FROM THESE COMPANYS. They get all kinds of wonderful vacations trips lodging meals you name it. ALCHOL too. So if you do happen to run across one that will tell you the truth KEEP THAT DR FOR SURE! It's been months ago and I still have numbness and tingling in my hands, still freezing cold.. Oh and did I tell y'all in inLouisiana and its 90* today! So all I can say is keep drinking lots of water and eating healthy food. And PRAY! I hope we all get over this episode and we never have any more side effects later on down the road.

I started taking it on Saturday night, by Tuesday I noticed fatigue, on Wednesday I started with a fever and neck soreness, sore throat, loss of appetite, today all of my glands in my neck and head are swollen, tonight the rash appeared and I consulted my friend who is a NP. She recommended stopping the medication immediately and taking benadryl. It's too late to get to a doctor unless I go to the ER, so my husband is staying up to watch my breathing. I also developed a weird cough out of no where!

Another night up at 1am can't sleep due to the restless leg syndrome and permanent damage this drug caused me. 3 gabapentin isn't touching the pain right now :(

Hi.... Woke up yet again this morning with awful nausea and weak shaky legs.. Iv been off it for days now.. As for the cough my doctor actually asked me when I went back how long I'd had it. So they do know there is an issue with this med... To be honest I hadn't really noticed it but she did. All i can say is im glad I got off it a day earlier than I should have.. I just pray the dizzy head says away.... That said I am improving each day. so hang in there... .As i mentioned in my earlier post get some electrolyte sachets and use in your water... Massive help.... .

I'm so sorry to hear, Susan. I've been going to a Chinese medicine doctor and acupuncturist who has been helping me a lot. Lately I've been taking a red ginseng tonic with some other Chinese herbs she mixed up which has really helped my dizziness. The nerve issues are slowly slowly getting better. graded exersise has been very helpful too. Stay positive and don't give up. I know how tough and depressing this whole thing is. I was in such prime shape before this disaster happened but i need to look forward. The mind/body connection is a powerful thing.

Hi Susan.. Let me first say, I havnt used antibiotics for over 20 yrs but I got caught short away. I have always used botanical herbs because let's face it, that's where medicine originates from..
Ok do the water flush.... Drink 1 whole pint of water and leave it in your bladder for 30 minutes. Don't go to the loo during that 30 mins..... After 30 mins you drink a second pint... Once you've drank your 2nd pint then go for your life... This can be done several times a day if required... This is much beneficial for flushing toxins out quickly and safely...........

Susan... P.S... I've used herbs for 30 years and I suffer from a weak adrenal gland on my left side. Restless legs is very linked TO adrenal fatigue and these meds hit your adrenals HARD... Hence anxiety and poor sleep... Help yourself along and get some good quality magnesium and take it 2 hours before bed... Try to lay off any stimulants like sugars and caffeine..... Hope this helps...

Thank you for your suggestions. I was taking magnesium when I first had the reaction and could barely walk. I will start it again. And do the water flush. When the Nerves first went out I was so desperate I bought anything and everything trying to get relief. My story is much like Kurts on here and my story is in this thread somewhere. Thank you again for the advice! Look up the supplement lions mane for kicks, I take that daily supposed to help for a lot of things and not heard of.

Your welcome.. Just remember even with supplements go slowly.. When I was deficient I couldn't take full dose at first... To get the best results for RLS and sleep take the magnesium with a small dose of vitamin C... Siberian ginseng is awesome too.. I make my own blends and if you need any advice just ask..... Always here.... Yes Kurt is knowledgeable... I've had systemic Candida all my life and i'm turning stage 4 adrenal insufficiency so i've been on the bike so to speak a long time... I'm in good health now but sadly they gave me intravenous antibiotics which i thought was just fluids.... Feeling great today.... Stay well and know there will be and end to it... Purely cause and effect....

I thought I would add and see if anybody has had similar reactions. 40 year old male that took bactrim for UTI. Took two pills a day for seven days. After taking the course of medication I started to have dull headaches, vision issues, nausea in the morning, and extreme anxiety. 10 days after completion ran a temperature of 103 with severe chills. Blood test ran twice all normal except a low WBC count. Two months later, thankfully nausea is gone but the headaches and vision issues still remain. Started to get a little bit scared and worrisome. Now have an appointment to see Neuro-ophthalmologist.

Just extremely disheartening. Yes, it could be anything I guess, but the only thing that changed in my life was the fact that I took bactrim. I have read through most the post. But was just hoping to encounter someone else that had symptoms for a long time and then it returned to normal. It would give me some hope at this point.

Hi... I have posted several times if you want to read through them... I suffered terribly but quickly detoxed it out. May sound a bit quirky if your not familiar with that kind of thing but do a little viewing on YouTube and look at Dr Robert Morse and watch a few if his videos.. Be specific and type in antibiotics... I think you will find it extremely eye opening and helpful... all the best.
