Side Effects Of Angeliq

I am 54 and my doctor prescribed Angeliq for atrophic vaginitus. Other non-systemic topical treatments were ineffective. I have been on it for 6 days and my main side effects are interrupted sleep and a mild headache. How long does it usually take for side effects to subside if they do subside at all?

Generally, about 4 weeks or so, they should improve and subside, once your body gets used to the medication.

The NIH lists other side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and mood changes.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Hi there, thank you for the response. It's day 10 and it's becoming apparent that the side effects are constantly changing. The dull headache just vanished and my usual almost daily headaches (bane of my life) have not put in an appearance since beginning this treatment! Insomnia is almost completely a thing of the past. New though, is a dull pelvic pain similar to the kind I'd get before a period. On the upside: clarity of thought; feeling less overwhelmed and more goal-directed.

Just a quick update. On day 21 I began breakthrough bleeding which remained light and lasted a week. I have a dry mouth sometimes and a prickly itch at night but these states are intermittent. My anxiety levels have decreased considerably and I am still glad to be free of daily headaches and tight shoulder and neck muscles. The only downside is my ability to spell has been affected and I tend to make quite a few errors of omission when writing.
