UpdatedMy medication has been changed from Zimvastatin to Atorvastatin since which time I have experienced severe pain in joints throughout my body and especially in the joints in my spine. Also extreme weakness and feeling unwell.

From what I was able to gather erectile dysunction is not a known side effect while taking Lipitor.

It has been about a week since I've started taking atorvastatin due to a case of low cholesterol, but now I can't sleep due to heartburn at night; and again I experienced headaches.
You can try taking it every other day or every few days, a new study came out that it works the same if you take it every other day or every other day. I posted the actual source in a new thread.
But switching medications or Brands can be hard on your body, and you might have thyroid problems aside from cholesterol and statins will mess with your thyroid that can throw your whole body into many different problems.
I have been taking Atorvastatin 20mg for the past 2 years and without changing my eating habits have steadily gained weight. Can this drug cause weight gain as a side effect?
Yes the statin medications are known to mess with your thyroid, which can cause all kinds of health side effects. Have you had your thyroid checked? The thyroid gland creates hormones that affect metabolism.
Please tell your doctor about your side effects right away. They can adjust the dose or recommend an alternative medication. One thing to consider is taking CoQ10. Statins have been shown to lower CoQ10 levels and a CoQ10 supplement can help replenish low levels.
Did you guys see my post about taking statins every other day instead of every day?
Did you fix the heartburn problem?
....I am taking something that works if you are interested.
