Shortness Of Breath On Metoprolol (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am on 25 mg of Metoprolol divided in half morning and evening. I don't have high blood pressure, yet I'm always very short of breath. I don't want to take them anymore.

It is a very small dose if I understand what you are saying.
You take 25mg in total per day, divided into 12.5mg in the morning and night?
It is unclear as to the reason you are taking them for as you have not provided enough detail as to your condition.
They may be to control high blood pressure, angina, abnormal heart rhythms, palpitations..quite a large list.
If you do not want to continue taking them, discuss this with your doctor. Don't just stop taking medicine, ask him to explain why you are being prescribed them.
i had heart stent put in year ago and when i went home i was told to take this. ive had trouble with breathing since the stent and i read maybe the metoprolol was causing it.
Just started Eliquis for A-Fib on Mar 22, 2017, taking in a.m. and p.m.(2.5 mg. ea.) Am also on a Beta Blocker, Bisoprolol, 5 mg. which I started two days ago also. Was severly nauseous and short of breath before I could take the Eliquis; was advised to take 1/2 dosage of B.B. the next a.m. I am now unable to sleep well because of shortness of breath. Walking to get the mail a short distance is the same with SOP.! I'm wondering if the Eliquis is the problem, which I suspected, as well from reading all of the same comments above. Am "waiting" for a callback from Dr's office (not easy to reach!) I also talked with a"specialist" at Eliquis. Little satisfaction, as what I can do except go to ER!! no thanks and afraid Dr. will say the same.(It's Fri.) How can these drugs help anyone for the better?? I walked every day at least a mile, stretched daily, and did yoga or other ex. 3 times a week regularly. I'm nearly 84! What's a Mother to do?
hi if u r not comfortable common sense should always dictate! I was on it for month with aspirin but stopped metropolol. taking aspirin alone should do the job. Dr's don't know yr body and they could recommend anything they are not God.
Re: nita (# 3)
hi can u tell me about Stents? it didn't alleviate yr symptoms? I like to know know. Thanks
Re: nita (# 3)

This is a beta blocker.Any family history of asthma, will be aggravated
Re: Elainea (# 4)
Besides eloquis the b blocker can aggravate asthma if there is any family historys
Re: student doctor (# 2)
I would ask the dr why you are taking it. I take it for my hear..Dr said it’s such a small amount, but a great protection.
