Severe Headaches With Imdur

I began taking Imdur 30mg on December 15, 2015 because I began to have attacks of angina. I did not realize that I was supposed to be taking Imdur all along following 3 Stent insertions in June. The severe headaches began immediately - they are so debilitating I can not function. These headaches, which I read are supposed to lessen after a few days, have not. The headaches today are just as severe as they were a month ago. I have an appt. next Wednesday with my Cardiologist - because my angina continues, and the Imdur does not appear to be working and I am still having severe headaches.

Recently I have noticed that when I walk for about a kilometer, my chest becomes tight. The doctor has advised me to undergo a stress echo test. In the meantime he has started me on Imdur 60mg. I have taken the medicine for the last three days and it is causing a lot of headache. How long will the headaches generally persist and after how many days can I expect Imdur to start reducing the pain in my chest?
I took isosorb 2 months ago I have been in er 3 times I stopped a king it after only 7 days and im still with headaches nausea can't get over this stuff please don't take anymore it could kill u when I was at er they brought in a man who had been on it for 3 months they didn't know if he was going to make it
I am taking isosorbide mononitrate today... My question is how long until I can feel better and cure my heart problem?
I am terrified to take another isosorb, even tho call to Dr. said to take 1/2 dose.-Headache was much, much, much worse than migraines that I had in my younger days plus violent vomiting. Seems headache should have subsided from 1 dose of isosorb since it is a 24 hr timed-released med. Has been 32 hrs since first dose & I have taken 2 percocet plus 3 doses of zofran for nauseau & still have headache & nausea. I was admitted to CCU week ago from ER & had heart cath next day. Cath showed no heart abnormalities but still have angina but I will deal with that with regular nitro even tho will require constant monitoring. My blood pressure was 195/105 initially I used regular nitro which worked fine to get BP down, had some headache but was able to control with regular dosage of tylenol. Then in CCU used nitro patch & after about 12 hrs headache was bearable with tylenol.
So bottom line is I am not going to take another isodoro because I will end up in hospital from dehydration since I am unable to stop vomiting in addition to unbearable headache. As a previous post stated----I am not a wimp!!! It took 6 attempts in ER to get IV going, plus I suffered from intestinal blockages
I ended up being Hospitalized on 1-10-16 due to chest pain - I ended up having a Cardiac Catheterization on 1-12-16 which was Negative - there were no blockages in my stented arteries and no blockages in my bypassed arteries from my surgery in 1995. I continue to take the Imdur, the headaches are less frequent. Thank goodness!
Hello, Patrick! How are you feeling? What did your cardiologist say?
Headaches are a very common side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness and flushing.
Many people do end up needing to take something for the headaches.
