Severe Anxiety & Side Effects From 10mg Celexa

I started on 10mg Celexa (Citalopram) at the end of May 2015. Two weeks into the medication I had sever nausea. I could not keep anything down. This has been non stop to this day and Doc wouldn't prescribe me nausea medicine. 4 weeks into Celexa and I had my first anxiety attack. I have only had one once before in my life before I started antidepressants. A few days later another attack would occur that kept me from leaving the house on my birthday. I have trouble falling asleep now and I constantly feel weak and faint. I went back to my Doctor for a check up and he insisted I try 20mg and then also prescribed me .5 Xanax. I tried the 20mg for a few days, but the side effects were too intense. I cut back to 10mg for a week and now I have decided to wean myself off of Celexa. I have started taking 5mg since last Tuesday (July 14th). I have about 1-2 severe panic attacks a day ever since. I have already missed 3 days of work in a week because of this. I take at least half a .5 Xanax every morning. On top of the anxiety, I feel like I am going crazy. and almost have drove myself to the ER to just yell at them to "get it out of my system". I was not this bad or depressed pre Celexa. It is making me feel like an insane person, but I am starting to feel a very little less anxious each day. My question is - how long will these side effects last? I plan on cutting to .25mg of Celexa once my anxiety lessens tremendously or disappears, then eventually getting off completely. This is effecting my work and social life. Please help.

At the maximum, such side effects should improve and start to go away, at 6 weeks in, but more commonly it happens around 3 to 4 weeks, with these types of medications.

They have all been reported with it, as listed by the FDA, along with weight changes and dry mouth, but when they continued for that long, most people have had to switch to a different medication.

What type of doctor have you been seeing? I think a specialist would be in your best interest.
