I have Gerd. Have been on tecta for the last four years. No problems until I started taking sertraline in April 2015. Since then I have had acid reflex symptoms, constantly spitting out phlegm and very very bad taste in mouth. Chronic. 40 mg of tecta once a day. 100 mg of sertraline once a day. Last endoscopy was in Oct. 2015, told to come back in 3 years. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you ## Hello Carolyn! How are you? Have you considered speaking to your doctor about switching off the Sertraline to see if things improve? There are other similar medications you can try. Its other typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include headache, dry mouth, weight gain and dizziness.

I took 40mg of valium. I am also on sertraline 100mg a day. It is simply for my panic disorder. I hardly drink ever. ## Hello, Goosey! How are you? That's a very high dose of Valium to take, so you need to be careful you don't overdose. Did your doctor instruct you to take that much? Mixing the two may cause a lot more drowsiness, dizziness and nausea, than usual. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA may include dry mouth, weight gain and mood swings. The Valium also carries the risk of being habit forming.

Severe depression and not wanting to live anymore, but afraid to die. I see that I'm worthless and useless, and a burden to everyone. I don't want to be here anymore, but I don't want to leave my children. I have no friends, no job, no hobbies, no energy and no support. ## My dear, it is extremely important that you make an appointment to see a doctor. You are not worthless. I promise.

I've been taking sertaline for about a month now 50mg it was increased to 75 mg but I stay at 50 it gives me a weird feeling like a down feeling is this normal. ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Why aren't you taking the 75mg dosage? The U.S. FDA classifies this as an SSRI antidepressant and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. It can cause some people to feel depressed, rather than lifting the depression as it should. Have you informed your doctor? It may not be the right medication for you.

I went to the Dr for anxiety and he put me on antidepressants. I refuse to take them I'm not depressed. They also make me not act like myself. How can I tell him I'm not going to take them without him taking away my xanax too, cause they actually help? ## Hello, Whisper! How are you? Which antidepressants did he prescribe? Many of them do far more than treat depression, for example both Sertraline and Fluoxetine can treat depression, but will also treat other mood disorders and anxiety. They also have the advantage of always helping to keep it under control, since you take them regularly and they are not addictive like benzodiazepines. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. If you're not coope...

My bottle of setrtraliin says discard after 6/2015 but bottle says expiration nov 2015. What do I do ## Hello, Jan! How are you? Are you not taking it daily as prescribed? Sertraline isn't a medication that you can just take on an 'as needed' basis, it must be taken regularly for it to work. The FDA classifies this medication as an SSRI antidepressant that can also be used to treat anxiety. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight gain. At this point, it would be best to dispose of them and obtain a new supply. Is there anything else I can help with?

Please help me? My mum is 84 and started Sertaline 50mg about 8 months ago and she turned a corner and was working ok. To cut a long story short, I do her meds for 2 weeks at a time, and I ran out. I ordered them from the Doctor but forgot to put it in her pack. It was only after I Started to notice confusion, panic, brain fog, palpitations and feeling fluey that I Realised what I had done. I put her straight back on it but she went cold turkey for 2 weeks. She has been back on it a week but the panic and confusion is still there in bouts. I am distraught at my mistake. I mentioned it to the Doctor who advised as least we know what is causing it. Any ideas how long this may take. She lives with us but when we go to work the anxiety starts. ## Hello, Donovan! im taking sertraline hcl 100 also mylan clonazepam 0.5mg and seroquel xr 300mg ive been gaining alot of weight and i not eating alot grilled fish and meats and veggies i was wondering if any of thes medicines are making me gain weight also if i stop this medicacine will i just get the way i was be for like depresion panic attacks and axaity ## You actually have two possible culprits here that could be contributing to the problem, both the Sertraline and the Seroquel are known to cause weight gain. The Quetiapine in the Seroquel is known to increase appetite and, thus, cause weight gain and the Sertraline is known to cause it, even without appetite changes. However, if you have been taking them for a long period of time, you shouldn't just abruptly stop them, as this can cause withdr...

Don't like the way I feel. Tired all the time, dizzy, also low grade headache . I,have slowly cut back on them. Suppose to take 150 mg day. Now I' am down to 50mg Is this a good way to get off of them ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? Yes, a slow taper is really the only way to get off of this medication, otherwise, it causes some problematic withdrawal effects. You may still experience some, as listed by the FDA, they may include dizziness, headache, rebound depression, body aches and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Do you know if sertraline hcl ia VilBLE IN dye free formula? If so , who is the manufacturer? I have histamine intolerance and it seems that i have a sensitivity to many food dyes. Many thanks ## Hello, Tbird! How are you? There are some white tablets available, which wouldn't have dyes, plus there is a liquid that is also available. However, not all pharmacies may carry the dye free, you'll likely need to check ahead of time, so they can order it for you, if need be. The FDA classifies this medication as an SSRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi Verwon., Feeling good. Histamine intolerance requires alot of detective work. I started with an eliminatio...

Want to know how many of one of them would you have to take to equal one of the other?? ## There are actually not comparable, at all. They are not in the same medication class and don't treat conditions in the same way. The FDA classifies Sertraline as an SSRI antidepressant, though it also helps with anxiety. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. In order for it to work, it must be taken regularly and will take about 4 weeks to reach its full level of effectiveness. However, Xanax is a benzodiazepine, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. It doesn't require regular dosing, but can be taken on an as needed basis. Is there ...
