Seroquel For Insomnia (Page 4)

I have been taking Seroquel for a year now for insomnia. Anybody else take Seroquel for this? I have looked around and it doesn't even seem that Seroquel is normally given to someone for this.
Hi...I've been an insomniac for about 10 years now. Dr. has tried EVERYTHING under the sun. He gave me Seroquel about 6 months ago and it worked great - he had given me samples and when I went to get them refilled, even with insurance it was going to cost me over $200.00 for 30 - 50mg. I also suffer from severe panic disorder so I take 5 klonopins a day. The seroquel has been the ONLY thing that has just put me to sleep quickly (and very relaxing). Went to Dr. today and told him just how expensive the Seroquel was and he wrote another prescript for generic Seroquel, not extended release. He gave me samples, but these are extented release 50mg. I've taken 1 about 2 hours ago, nothing. I took another half about an hour ago...nothing. Afraid to take the other half as I'm very scared of drugs I've not taken or had much experience with before. Normally, I would take, with a sleeping pill that didn't work well for me (i.e. ambien) about 4 to 5 benedryl. Afraid to take benedryl with Seroquel as I don't know what to expect or not expect. My husband doesn't understand insomnia (as he can lay down and be asleep in 2 minutes) and he snores so loudly. To sleep in the same bed with him, I have GOT to be very very sleepy, otherwise I sleep on the couch. He gets upset a little when I sleep on the couch and I try to explain to him that I have a hard enough time going to sleep, and with his snoring - it's literally impossible unless I'm drugged to the max with OTC Midnite and benedryl. So sick and tired of insomnia...and sick and tired of being tired all the time.
I've taken 100 mg of Seroquel one hour before bedtime for over 10 years and haven't had one sleepless night during that time. I wake up without drousiness and have experienced no side effects.
How much is ur dosage ? Thanks
I have used Seroquel for several years for sleep disorder and it has worked great so far without any side effect
I also have been taking Zopoclone...and have eating binges just before bed...The drug helps me sleep for a short time.(if i can stop eating and go to bed) Its a bad side affect i think!
I was put on Seroquel 25 mg last summer because I was not able to sleep without taking Immovane. Seroquel calmed my anxieties and helped me sleep. But by the end of the year, because of the stress from school, I was not sleeping again. I increased the dosage to 75 mg but it didn't help the insomnia. For the last 3 months, I have been taking Immovane to help me sleep. I am only getting 3-4 hours of sleep per night. Tonight I am trying Zeldox. Really hope it helps. I am really sleep deprived.
I have been on zopiclone for about 2 years. If I not tired thinking a lot, I will go to the kitchen and eat - anything. It's like I'm in a trance and next day I have to really think whether I had a eating binge the night before. I hate it but I'm a cronic insommiac, my mind races. Any suggestions or ideas. Thanks
Josie, have you had problems with weight gain?
chronic insomniac until seroquel..tried many other medications but nothing cured my problem...now after 60 years of tortured non-sleep I'm not longer an insomniac - but people don't realize they have to take the pill about one hour before bed or it won't work..i only take 25 - 50 mgs at night and am a very happy camper now
I just added G Monster Sleeping aid to my supplements Program; it has helped me sleep and has been helping me recover my muscles from the brutal training that I put on my self. It gives me a little buzz before bed and that is good for me because I do not drink, since alcohol weakens athletic performance.

I am a 37 year old and have had problems sleeping since I was 10. I have tried everything under the sun, my doctor put me on seroquel about three months ago, but i have mixed feelings about it. Sometimes it works fantastic and sometimes i'm up till 5 or 6 in the morning, but when i wake up i don't feel like a zombie like i did with ambien.
While it is illegal in the U.S. for a drug company to market a drug for a nonapproved, off-label use, it is perfectly acceptable and common practice for doctor's to prescribe medications according to their experience of what it helps.
Since they incude somnolence and drowsiness, antipsychotics are quite often prescribed for people who suffer chronic insomnia who have not responded to other solutions.

seroquil is usually prescribed for various psychosis. It has many DANGEROUS side effects. I've found Ambien safe & effective when taken as prescribed.
My son has OCD and was put on Seroquel for sleep. It's not made for that, but it is the side effect of the drug. It has helped tremendously. However it may be increasing his seizures at night, so we have to find out more about that. But in terms of sleep it helps. It also helped my sister sleep after her stroke. 17B1
Good information
I also have been taking seroquel for insomnia for about a year and a half now. I must say, my Dr tried every sleeping pill out there on me. This is the only thing that has worked for me, I've never had a sleepless night since.
I was also being treated for panic attacks and depression at the time. But all my life I had trouble sleeping, I'm talking up till 5 or 6 am with a million things racing through my mind (stupid stuff) but not any more.
My doc told me that in low doses, it does work on some people for insomnia.
