Sandoz Ativan (Page 5) (Top voted first)

Updated

I switched pharmacies and was given Sandoz Ativan, I have been having a terrible time- it is like it is creating more anxiety. I switched back to my old pharmacy and am counting the days until I get back to the Milan manufacturer. It has been a horrid 2 weeks. Melatonin helps a great deal with sleep. I started off with Milan and had been on that for 2 years with no problems, I wonder if your body resists another generic brand and you have to adjust. All I know if Milan is what I need and I always get the same manufacturers for all my meds since 12 years ago from CVS- they are very consistent. Be very careful if you switch pharmacies, I learned that all generics are NOT THE SAME.

Hello PJCENTRAL ! Sorry for intruding on you like this but I could not help noticing this post of yours. Even though I am from another country, I do have family there and I can almost understand all the stress you mentioned.

Where I am from, original Wyett are available. Although I can almost assure you that they are perfectly round pills. But I would have to double check it.

Ok so I double checked like I said. There are 2 dosages. In both cases the pills are round with a rip in the middle. The only difference between both is the colour. Cheers

Ativan has been manufactured by Valeant in the US for a few years. Is Wyeth making them elsewhere?

Hi Denise, Joe, Marjorie, Stephanie, High Anxiety, et al....... I can't believe this but after telling you all about my walgreens switching to sz 198 a couple months ago, I just got a refill and it's label is Watson 241 1. Good grief I can't keep up. Why do they keep changing? Hope it's the same. Lol

Sorry, no it's not the same. Watson is Watson! My WaLgreen also stopped getting Sandoz SZ198, and I had to call around. Target now sells it. I called my old Target pharmacy, and they said they now get it. CVS does not sell it nor does Walgreen's. They went the cheapest way to go, and got Walmart's brand. So if I were you, maybe try 4 of the Watson, just to make sure they work for you. If not, you'll have call Target. Some targets will carry other's will not.

mary,
I have gone to Watson since Sandoz butchered the former activus lorazepam and even though it isn't near what activus did for me, it allows me to keep my head above water, one thing that has been clear to me is that we each have at one time or another found a lorazepam that allows us to mauntain our lives, its also apparent the the companies which manufactor these medications could care less how we are effected by their changes, I myself will stick to Watson til I find something better, I can kiss activus good bye and not expect that original product to come up on the market ever again, one thing that can be done and I have said this before, the FDA needs to be notified, if for no other reason, should court action come up as a result of these manufactors cutting corners and people getting injured, you can recoup some of your loses and the other thing is by writing to columns like this one the word gets out as to what profit driven companies like Sandoz are and one should never and I mean never buy there products in the future, word sometimes travels slow but the message does get out there, I wish you all well as this can be very frustrating and we know that trusting the manufactors is hopeless, keep searching and give each product a decent shot and then move on to th next until you find one that will allow you to live your life on your terms

Gave the Watson pill one more try today....nothing.... I'm taking a second one to see if I can sleep. I should be able to tell whether they are totally fake or just really weak. I'll be back ugh

Me too! I had been using a tiny dose of Ativan/Lorazepam, getting 30 pills for $5.00 at Costco. Then my doctor prescribed 120 pills so I didn't have to refill so often (of the .5). When I went to get at Costco, for 120 it was only $3.90! I actually take for vertigo. The first night even on just .25 mg. I got worsening of symptoms of twitching. I called and found out from Costco that they were made by Sandoz. I called Sandoz and THEY WON'T TELL ME WHERE THEY GET THE RAW MATERIAL. I suspect China. I'm going to check into see if there's any contaminants like lead or melamine or any of the other garbage we find in things imported from China.

I feel for you Mary, cause when I ran out of my R59,then it was ((59, and now SZ198 (which is disgusting) they gave me Watson brand. I took 1mg, and nothing happened. I was still having panic attacks and not able to relax. Then I took another one, same thing. Finally, around 4am I took 3 more. That made 5 all together. Finally 5mg, relaxed me, and I slept for about 3 hours. The few I got from the Pharmacy to try out, I gave them the bottle back. By that time, they were no longer selling ((59, and I had to try several different brands, but none of them worked for me. Fortunately, I had a few (reserves) of the ((59 left and used them till SZ198 came out a few months back - 2014. SZ198, are better, but they are nothing like ((59/R59 originals. They are the most expensive substance medication without insurance $123.00 for a 3 month supply. I remember paying $18.00 for a 6 month supply of ((59's. Follow the money, and it will lead to the GREED MARKET.

Thanks high anxiety good to know it's not just me. My walgreens told me they can't get anything but the watson now and I couldn't return my bottle which I understand. Since it was a months supply I have to wait a few. Weeks before getting a refill. I plan on calling around until I find a pharmacy that carries the sandoz and then get my refill there. Right now I don't have enough left of the sandoz so I'm trying to space them and half them. It's better than taking the Watson which did absolutely nothing to help my anxiety. I've truly tried, trying to convince myself that they must work cuz that would make things alot easier. Even the pharmacist said Watson is reputable and they should work. Maybe these are a bad batch. I swear they forgot to put the active ingredient in. Is there a way we can get the pill analyzed to see what is in it? So stressed out. I'm not touching the Watson. If anything they make me grouchy and I'm never grouchy. Thanks for listening all ;)

Hi Mary2, sorry to hear your going through "shades" of anxiety and sleepless night! Did you try calling Target? I called them and they now sell the SANDOZ Sz 198's. I wish I could find out what sort of coating they put on that tablet, but I have no idea who could test it. Perhaps a lab professor at some high school could do it if asked? That would be the cheapest way to find out. If you go to testing labs for medications, that costs oodles of $$$ and that's what we don't have in here! Just barely enough to get our medications. And then it would take weeks to months or years before the results are in. Hey, something came to mind? Wonder if that other MedChat lady in here who said she runs some sort of pharmacy, maybe she might know of a trust worthy lab to check 1 pill of that Sandoz Sz198? Just a thought Mary2. I guess we will never really know till people start dying by the 100's or 1,000's. The pharmaceuticals don't care! We are their lab rats!

Well I found a pharmacist at my walgreens who went through the hoops it took to get me Sandoz again. Thank goodness. The Watson did nothing. Wish insurance would help with name brand Ativan then we all wouldn't have to keep getting switched to different manufacturers and questionable pills. It's bad enough having an anxiety disorder without being anxious about the quality of the med your taking! I'm quite willing to pay the highest tier copayment too but I guess the insurance companies are in charge, not us....that's a whole other story

Well, am really glad that someone at WalGreen's went through "hoops" for you, cause no one at the 5 Walgreen's I went to and called did nothing! Am happy for you, but its a matter of time when no one will carry this generic version of R59! R59 was the best anxiety pill I ever had. Been taking it for almost 20 years! Never had an issue with it, not till they sold and resold the product. Now its a joke either way you look at it. I hope one day soon, all of us won't have to take anymore pills to help us feel better. I hope for a world where people who suffer like us for whatever ailment will be a thing of the past! Am not counting on the pharmaceutical companies in providing that relief! They're only in it for profit, not the well being of anyone!

Your explanation is clear and accurate. But, I have a question. How may I find a web-based pharmacy that carries Sandoz lorazepam. I've been calling pharmacies without much luck. I'm thinking there must be some pharmacy that carries lorazepam made by Sandoz other than the big chains. Thanks

Hey Joe!

Well, maybe by calling Sandoz might be able to refer you to their distribution center (if they have one and r willing to reveal it). Most of the people in here deal with companies like WalGreen, WalMart and etc. Maybe some hospitals in your area might be another place to check and see if the pharmacist might know, cause a lot of them won't say because they'll lose money big time. The worse answer you can get is a NO or a YES. Am not putting much hope in some private firm that only sells this brand of generic Lorazepam. So far, its now back to Target for me, then one month I'll call for a refill and "OOPS, they no longer carry it." Sad state of affairs! Am sorry I can't be much help in this case, but you do the best you can.

I too am trying to find a sandoz 0.5 lorazepam. I am in the Detroit area and can't find it anywhere. I have been on watson for a month and feel horrible. No relief from anxiety and major heartburn which I have never had in my life?
Any suggestions?
