Based on the description provided, I located a round brown pill with "57" on one side and blank on the other to be a 200mg Motrin (Ibuprofen) tablet. (NDC 30142-235, among others)
This is an OTC non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used for treating fever and mild to severe pain.
Apparently it's distributed by many different companies.

Ibuprofen is not specifically indicated as a sleep aid, it's a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory. However, if pain is keeping you up for instance, i might help to relieve the pain and help you sleep.
