Roche Accutane Side Effects (Top voted first)
UpdatedJust wanted to let everyone know my experience with ro-accutane so far. Started on the medicine for cystic acne caused by stress from work. Very good cleared up in about a month but have to follow out my 9 month course recommended by my specialist. Side effects I have experienced so far:
-Extremely dry lips to a point that they split on the sides and I find it difficult to eat any foods at all
-constant dry eyes like sand in them
-red skin
-extreme sensitivity to the sun
- extreme weight gain 12kgs in 6 months
- mood swings
- angry/aggressive
- panic attacks
- anxiety towards everything
- distance from everyone
- antisocial
- crying over the silliest things
- lost all interest in things I used to love
- irregular periods every two weeks
- but now haven't had it for 7 weeks
- can't control my eating
- concentration levels basically non existent
- random blurred vision
- exhaustion
- and then insomnia
- stress over simple things
- aches and pains
- constant nose bleeds and scabbing all on the inside on my nose
Started on two tablets a day and am now back to one tablet a day because I told my doctor I was feeling very sad. Have 5 months left of my cycle and then I am finished. Went on this drug because I couldn't look at myself in the mirror because of my bad skin and now just cant look at myself and I don't know the reason why. Numbness. Sure there are plenty more things I could say but can't think of right now. But I am not the same bubbly bright light I used to be that's for sure.

Hello, Char! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry about what you're going through.
This medication has been known to cause that in some people that take it, according to the FDA, which is why most doctors are very careful about prescribing it, now.
However, if they are that severe, you may better off speaking to your doctor about stopping it altogether and trying a different treatment for acne.
Have you tried anything else for it?
Hi there
Yes we tried all other avenues before taking it.
Have since come off the medication about a fortnight ago which was my decision to stop taking it. Starting to feel better already. Still a little bit anxty and sad but that is slowly passing. Also stopped my contraceptive pill at the same time to give my body a break. Haven't had a regular cycle yet. But wouldn't recommend the drug to anyone. It's just not worth it. The change in myself was unrecognisable and hopefully I go back to who I was before starting on it
