Rising Pharmaceuticals Soma (carisoprodol)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I recently had my monthly prescription for Soma filled at my local Walmart pharmacy and for the past several months had been receiving the Watson brand from them, which work really well for my muscle pain and spasms, but last week when I picked up my prescription they were a different brand manufactured by Rising Pharmaceuticals. I normally take 2 in the morning and spread out the other 2, one for the afternoon and then one before bed, but this new brand sucks and hasn't given me ANY relief of my muscle pain and spasms! I've never had a generic brand just not work at all for me, but this brand is just terrible! Even taking 3 at a time still doesn't do anything to help!!! I've notified my doctor, filed a report with the FDA, and also sent Rising Pharmaceuticals a complaint email about the situation. I highly doubt anything will be done about it and I will be made to suffer for the whole month just because of this inferior and ineffective generic. I have chronic pain from several car accidents, of which none were my fault, and I also have fibromyalgia, so it's not easy having to live with a medication not working like it's supposed to. I'm just curious if there is anyone else here who has had this same problem with this specific manufacturer or even another generic of Soma. If you have, I am desperate to hear from you since I can't seem to find any answers anywhere on the internet about this specific manufacturer, but I did read that generics, by law, are allowed a 20% +/- of the active ingredient, which doesn't sound like much, but this brand I have now might as well be sugar pills!

The 2510V worked best for me too, but I was told they are no longer made/available

I’m experiencing the same problems with other manufacturers like Oxford. The pharmacists get mad when I ask for a different manufacturer. And my Dr doesn’t seem concerned. It’s awful to not get relief.

We have experienced the EXACT SAME situation this month. We also picked ours up at Walmart and tried to get them to destroy the ones they gave us and purchase the Watson brand. I think these are placebos!!! In all the years my daughter and I have been taking the generic soma, we have NEVER had a generic that absolutely will not work. All I can think of is getting enough people who are experiencing this to rise up against this manufacturer. I'd I were able to have it tested, I guarantee there would not be enough of the active ingredient in these pills from Rising. Make sure, the next time you are prescribed it that you make it very clear you must have Watson brand even if you have to go to a different pharmacy and use an RX coupon to lower the price.

Thanks for your response! I'm glad I am not the only one who has experienced a less effective generic. I actually just saw my pain management doctor today because my mom had a couple injections done for the pain in her tailbone. I also got my prescription to fill for the next month and even though the PA wrote "do not fill until 12/2" I decided just to wait it out and then ask the pharmacy next month what brand they have in stock before just blindly accepting another random generic. I will explain to them that the brand they filled for me this month was not effective and actually had some bad side effects so they understand why I am asking for a different brand this next time. I probably won't be able to have it filled on the 2nd even since they were filled on the 9th this month. It's hard to know though because they have filled it for me sometimes as much as a week (and maybe a few extra days) ahead of time, though they usually don't fill it until 1 or 2 days before I am due to run out, which is normal so I was surprised the times they've filled it earlier than normal. At least by asking ahead of time I will have the option of taking it to a different pharmacy if I choose to. Your information was very helpful, so thank you! But yeah, what I was saying in my original question/post is that I did not see Rising Pharmaceuticals on the list of manufacturers on this website and it just made me curious as to why not, but they also did not have Vintage Pharmaceuticals on the list either, which is the MOST effective brand for me. They have the imprint of 2410 V and that's what I had been getting from them for MONTHS! I understand they want to cut costs and save money by purchasing the cheapest brands they can get, but this was just crazy to me and I started to think to myself that maybe something was wrong with me!

I think I found it on this site. Feed it back into Google and the page should come up. Yes the only way to get more Soma this month would be if the Doctor wrote for a stronger dose which I don't think is made. There is a compound sold with an Opiate but you don't want that. you are not the only person who has said similar things about generic Soma. I get different brands that might not work as well but do not cause sickness. Plus my insurance wont pay for name brand when a generic is available. I might be able to get it but would be very costly. I'd just take them as I couldn't find any other complaints about these pills. Truthfully I don't know what AA means either?

Where did you find this information? I'm confused about what this AA rating means. My question was about a specific manufacturer of this medication and how it did not help my muscle pain and spasms. It only made me nauseous and gave me headaches. I went through a lot to try to get it resolved and my pain management doctor understood in just a phone message I left for him and he wrote and faxed over a new prescription that stated Watson brand only, but when I called the pharmacy they told me I could not full it because I had just had it filled with that crappy brand, after which I had explained why my doctor faxed a new prescription over, but I got the same answer that the insurance would not cover it and the pharmacy could not legally release it to me since it had not been 30 days since my last refill. I asked if I could pay for it out of pocket and was also told no once again. So I called my pain management doctor again about the situation with the pharmacy and they told me to call and make an appointment with my GP to ask for them to write a prescription for the rest of the month so I wouldn't have to take the brand that wasn't working for me. Well, I couldn't get in to see the doctor right away and the soonest I available appointment with ANY doctor in the clinic wasn't until December 1st! I'm supposed to get my next refill on December 7th, so I don't know if I should just wait it out until then or if I should see my regular doctor because there are a couple other things I want to talk about with them.
