Right Neck Dissection / Tmj Pain Together

I had a righ neck dissection 2 weeks ago from thyroid cancer and also dealing from TMJ at the same time. TMJ pain so bad I can even explain it. Ear pain jaw pain face pain neck pain. 4 mg hydromorphone doesn't work every 4 hours for this pain. Anyone else dealing with this TMJ pain or thyroid cancer surgery?? I will be seeing my doctor next week to ask him what my options are for this pain. It's just not enough.

Hi Verwon. I do grind my teeth at night and use a mouth guard. It helps a little with pain. My dentist just gave me a persciption for CYCLOBENZAPRINE 10 mg. it's a muscle relaxer. My dentist feels its muscle related. Only 1 a day before bed. Not sure why I'm not taking it more often. They will see if this helps and I go back in a few weeks. Has anyone used this medication before??

For the TMJ pain, your best bet would be to see a dentist, rather than your GP or surgeon. For the best results and best pain relief, you need someone that has been specially trained to deal with that.
