Retail Cost Of Mounjaro/zepbound?

I'm not sure I am allowed to ask this... I'm getting quotes of $1k+. Am I doing something wrong?

There are some doctors/companies that order the medication from a compounding pharmacy at greatly reduced prices. Which are in a vile that you have to measure and inject yourself. They get around the name brand patents this way.
But compounding pharmacies are not FDA approved and not guaranteed like regular drugs are. There are reddit forums and one I had read several posts about had some mixed feelings. But generally most had a positive result at a much lower price. You can research yourself about current doctors/websites that use compounding pharmacies.
Here is an FDA link explaining the risks of compounding pharmacies.:

On GoodRx, the discounts in my area show for example 5mg Zepbound at lowest $1026 and Mounjaro 5mg at $1035. I know someone taking Mounjaro for weight loss and pays the GoodRx discounted prices. Without it, she was paying about $150 more per month.
With insurance since I have diabetes I get mine for $20 for 4 pens at 5mg.
Re: LC (# 4)
Exactly, they can make Zepbound which people have to pay hundreds out of pocket, or Mounjaro which some people get for weight loss anyway, but also has people using insurance with reduced negotiated costs. Profit says optimize by prioritizing Zepbound. Don't know if they actually are or not, but I trust pharma companies as far as I can throw them.
Re: DianaP (# 1)
Zepbound is the same drug in the same strengths in the same device. That could be why Mounjaro is hard to get because Lilly was making Zepbound. Meanwhile, Mounjaro is being prescribed off label for weight loss.
If you do not have diabetes, insurance will not pay for it. It does cost 800-1000 without insurance. I have diabetes and this is the only medication that works for me. I have had to go without life saving medication due to people who want to lose weight. It’s hard to find the medication every month…
Google "Mounjaro saving program". That might help. I assume you do not have insurance.
There are ads on many media for appx 249-350$ w/o insurance but 75$ initial "cost/fee" with online Dr's nationwide. I personally would feel better dealing with a Dr in PERSON to discuss pros and cons, as there are cons. Tirzepatide comes under many names also like Zepbound, which claims to be a replica of Mounjaro. You can have reactions to any drug obviously, but out of so many women I know who are taking one of the handful of weight loss injections none have any issues, but I still would rather be under a Dr's care just in case. Good luck.
