I haven't witnessed any withdrawls. However an overdose could be brain damaging. An overdose will cause the person to become highly lethargic, pale skin, fatigue. It can slow the respitory system and potentially stop the heart beat. Of course this depends on how much is taken. This is an RX that needs to be taken in low doeses at first and gradually increased. Results aren't usually seen until the desired dose amount is reached, however some people may not require a full dose amount to see results. This med is used for Bipolar disorder and some autism.

Respedol? BEWARE of this drug. My 19 year old was prescribed Respidol. After taking 1/2 of a 2mg tablet she ended up in the emergency room. She woke up pale and complained of feeling funny. Her blood pressure was very low and she passed out. The ambulance took her to the hospital because of a low heartbeat and during further testing her heart stopped for 5 seconds. This drug has many severe side effects. Be very careful. Cardiac arrest is one. Read about any drug before taking them.

I'm concerned about Respsidol being provided to my brother. He has always been depressed and does very well on Zoloft. However, he is now on Respidol and claims to hear voices. Has never heard voices in the past. Is this something that could happen if a person does not need the med?

They have put my grandson on this medication and he has been breaking out in a rash and tried to kill himself. He has tried to tell them it makes him feel bad but they willnot listen

ive been diagnosed as a psychotic with numerous mental disorders. i took half a tablet before bed, felt fine..the next day i was having paranoia attacks (worse than usual) cutting a long story short, my workplace suspended me with pay for a month or two till i get my head right. i told the doctor that prescribed me it what happend, and she would not listen at all. be careful with this drug.

Please be careful of respidol. I took 1 pill, and ended up in the ER! I had horrible muscle spasms, and I was disoriented for hours!

councellors say that my 14yr old child should be on risperdal to calm dow some of his aggression but was wondering if there are herbal meds. on could use that would work. Also our 12 yr old is on strattera for oppositional compulsive disorder whrere we were told that it may help calm him down. again I wonder of any side effects to consider as he has a heart murmur. herbal meds.is definitely is a strong option. Please let me know.

I am On respidol shots every two weeks. My days and nights are turned around and I can't seem to do anything about it . any suggestions.

I have a brother who is also on Respidol. He also complains of hearing voices. I am a Social Worker, and several of the clients I work with who are on Respidol, also complain of hearing voices. I don't know why this is so.

my friends mam is on respidol and she seems much worse than she was she is extra paranoid she is very agitated frightened of different colours for different reasons she does'nt seem to know what she is even doing most of the time she keeps repeating herself she even looks very yellow in colour
could you tell me if these are side effects related to this medication.

I'm fine during the work week, but on the weekends I find that I am the poster girl forclinical depression. I currently take Adderal, Cymbalta and Wellbutrin. My sister takes Effexor and Respirdal and says this is the first time she can remember feeling 'normal'. Mental health issues fun in the mternal side of our family; both mother and uncle diagnosed schizophrenia -uncle institutionalized his enter adult life and out moher should have been. What do you think? I do go to a psychiatrist, but just for meds. I feel likeI am fighting a losing battle. I'll be 49 in July - does my age have any bearing on y mental health status?

On this med as well as minepress n zoloft! Freaking awsome stuff, im not angry or sad (bipolar) and i dont have ptsd nightmares. Less side effects on this than my clexia,remeron,trazadone daily coctail (no shaking, tremors, grinding yeeth, dizyness) but i am more scatterbrained.

I swear that I could have (maybe I did?) written the question. It describes EXACTLY my drug regimen, how I am on weekends and what my sister takes and how she is doing. NOW I am beginning to feel paranoid - DID I write that??? Very bizarre...

My 84 yr old Mother has been on this drug for 3 years. After frontal lobe brain surgery she's been on many different cocktail. This with celexa has cut down the aggression considerably, but she has cloudy thinking and is very lethargic. but no more kicking and biting. Would love to know about other dopamine inhibitors or suppressants that other have experienced.

Risperdal is killing me. At 79 yrs I plan on getting off it. Side effects are horrible. I don't want to live any more with these pills.

They gave me geodon, respidal, amitrptilline, trozodone, and I was like 90 pounds/anorxix. Every night was a fight to stay alive and keep my heart beating.

Me myself, no. I guess I failed to mention that she is my step-daughter so it wouldn't be genetic from me if I suffered from it. Her father and paternal grandmother, however, both suffer from severe depression. A lot of it also comes from the fact that she has mild cp and has to wear leg braces and use a walker. That in itself makes it difficult for her feel good about herself. She is a very beautiful child and can be loving when she wants to be. She has had a difficult path so far but her father and I are working very hard to change that. Thank you so much for your kind words. It makes me feel good to be important to her.

I think you're on the right track. I was just so alarmed when I saw your message - sorry if I over-reacted a bit. I've lived with depression for my entire adult life (I'm 49 now). It's been a real roller coaster ride for not only me, but my husband, family and the few friends I've had. Regarding the weight thing - you are very compassionate and caring to look out for that. Your daughter's self-esteem is probably not very high due to her depression...meaning weight gain can lead to being even MORE depressed - and at her age, identifying with her peers is very important to her. Gaining weight may cause her to dislike herself and then you have a whole other issue. You sound like a terrific mom who cares and loves her child deeply. She is lucky and well-deserving to have you at the helm. Just curious - have you ever experienced any depressive episodes? Looking forward to your reply. Keep up the positive outlook.

We have known for a while that she has seen and heard things and so far the medication has helped that go away. She is home now after being in-patient for 10 days. We will surely be keeping a good eye on her and monitor her weight as this medicine is said to cause weight gain. If it doesn't seem to be helping we will be sure to find a second opinion.

YES, be VERY concerned!!! PLEASE let her physician know asap. This is not normal behavior and sounds a lot like schizophrenic episodes. Your little girl deserves a fighting chance to get well and have a 'normal' childhood. That will make a huge difference in how she'll grow into adulthood and what her life can be like. If she doesn't get the best treatment now, she'll be a mess as she grows up. Please find another facility and/or physician/psychiatrist if you feel the current ones aren't helping your daughter.

My 12 yr old step-daughter has just been prescribed .5 mg dosage of this medication and is currently in a behavioral facility. She has also been prescribed 10mg prozac for severe depression and already hears voices and sees things (said to be attributed to depression). Should I be really concerned?
