Ramipril Dosage And Tiredness

I had a heart attack and stent a couple of years ago. I'm on aspirin, bisoprolol, atorvastatin and ramipril. I also take levothyroxine each morning. I have been feeling very tired and my blood pressure is very low, typically about 100 (or less) over 50 ish. With my drs agreement my dose of ramipril has been reduced to 5mg per day from 10mg. I take one in the morning and one at night. My blood pressure has increased slightly and seem steadier (although I had a reading of 98 over 47 yesterday) and I'm probably not as tired, although its hard to tell. My question concerns whether it is better to have the higher dose for prevention and put up with low blood pressure, or to have the lower dose and be at more risk! I don't know what is best and my dr seems to be leaving that decision to me. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, when it comes to your blood pressure, unless you're having dangerous symptoms of the low BP, such as being extremely dizziness, passing out and etc. then the lower it is, the safer you are.

Learn more Ramipril details here.

With mine, I've noticed that if I get 60 or lower on the diastolic, then I tend to get dizzy and sick, anything over that and I generally do okay, though I may feel a little tired. I'd rather feel a little tired for a bit of each day, than run the risk of my BP going too high, so I usually just deal with it.

If it's okay for you to take in a normal amount of fluids, you can often bring it up a slight bit so you don't feel so tired by just drinking a large glass of water.

If you don't have to abstain from all caffeine, then a small cup of coffee can also help, or Coke, Pepsi, whatever you prefer. It's usually lowest when you wake up in the morning and should improve on its own later in the day, even with your medications.

But as I said, these are just ideas, since I don't know what your medical restrictions are in your diet, or fluid intake.

What is your dosage of the Bisoprolol?

That can also lower it.
