Quitting After 3 Days (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi thank you for any insight..I've only been on Effexor xr 37.5 for three days and I'm freaking out! My chest is heavy legs are tingly im out of it but highly anxious and tired all at the same time. I've read tons of discussions about sticking it out but have made the choice to discontinue. I spoke with a pharmacist who said it'd be ok to just stop since I seem to be really sensitive to it. Only haven taken 3 doses, He said I will probably not have any withdrawals but if I do to open a capsule and sprinkle half on something. I'm looking for asstrances. I'm scared on this stuff but am also scared to just stop. He gave me assurances though that at such a low dose for such a short period, I should be ok. It's Saturday and Dr isn't in until Tuesday, no way am I going to keep taking this until he returns. Your thoughts???

Hi. I also have been on Effexor for three days (was prescribed for anxiety) and am also very likely going to stop taking them. Initially after the first day of taking I felt the effects almost instantly and felt high, almost euphoric. I also felt for the past several days much more energetic just after taking the pills and after waking up. Unfortunately the bursts of energy only seem to last a few hours and then I begin feeling dizzy and very very disoriented. Pupils dilated. Can't concentrate. Tingling throughout body. Severe nausea. Loss of appetite. End up zoning out for sometimes up to an hour just staring at one thing... Don't feel like myself. Can't stop clenching jaw... The list goes on! I feel just plain weird and awful. I don't feel safe driving and definitely do not want to feel like this when I start school next week. Just hoping my decision to stop taking after three days won't result in the dreaded withdrawal symptoms. Hope all works out for you!
Your pharmacist is correct, while we are all different, most people don't experience a problem stopping Effexor after just a few doses. It usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, so you are nowhere near that, yet.
Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes.
How did you both do after stopping it?
