Qualitest Lorazepam 1mg

My local pharmacy recently changed from Qualitest lorazepam to Actavis (Watson). So I have to transfer. Most pharmacies here sell Leading Pharma or Actavis. I have an adverse reaction from Watson lorazepam (serious side effects with no calming effect). I used to take Ativan but it is too expensive to continue (I took it when I was abroad and from Kaiser in the U.S. but Kaiser changed it to generic Qualitest lorazepam). I do not use Kaiser insurance anymore. Qualitest is milder than Ativan in terms of effect, like 50%-60% of Ativan, but less dehydrated and OK considering it is generic. Ativan is $2600 for 1mg 30ea in cash. Besides, most insurance does not cover it or do not want to pay for it by forcing doctors to prescribe generic lorazepam instead.
If you guys take Qualitest, could you let me know what pharmacy you use for Qualitest? I already transferred once before to my current pharmacy when the previous pharmacy switched to leading pharma lorazepam. Now my current pharmacy changed to Watson so I have to transfer to another pharmacy again. I called and visited more than 20 pharmacies before to find out which pharmacy carried Qualitest lorazepam. Most of all pharmacies are selling leading pharma or Activas, not Qualitest. I heard that leading pharma is not effective as they have 20% less active ingredients. If you are on Qualitest lorazepam, I would appreciate the pharmacy info (pharmacy name, phone #, address). I am suffering from side effects of Levothyroxine so I take Ativan (lorazepam) for anxiety to reduce side effects of levo. No other medicine like Xanax or clonazepam works other than Ativan. So desperate.
I don't know why pharmacies change the manufacturer very often and do not let customers know. And most pharmacies do not allow returns (other than big pharmacies like rite aid) and one transfer for lorazepam is possible. The stupid thing is once I receive my refill I should wait until the next refill even in the case I have side effects from other Lorazepam or it does not work at all because it is a controlled substance. So patients have to change the medicine or prescription or pharmacies. I called almost all pharmacies in my area (LA) and I can't find any to deal with Qualitest. Maybe Kaiser sells it but only Kaiser members (with their insurance) can use Kaiser pharmacy.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Jayne (# 4)
Active ingredients of lorazepam and inactive ingredients are different for generic lorazepam. The amount of active ingredients are different. It is not on peoples mind.

Thank you.
I live in Los Angeles.
Pharmacies tend to change drugs to keep lower costs.
It is hard to change pharmacies every time they change manufacturers of drugs.
Winjy, what an appropriate name. I may be in England but the active ingredient in any brand of benzo has to be the same quantity so says the health commission. The difference is all in peoples minds, after being addicted to diazepam's for over a decade I can tell you that a 2mg clobazepam will stop my withdrawals from diazepam's and I take 40 mg in ten or twenty ml increments, so will zopiclone, the only difference being the half life's of the different meds, you can he allergic to a generic but this will be due to the non active ingredient such as the colouring etc, unless you aren't getting them filled from a licensed pharmacy you can trust then its in your head. Trust me, my uncle couldn't be promoted any further in his work in England and left for Virginia where he headed up research on addiction, methadone, buprenorphine, benzos, etc., and I'm telling you unless the chemist is dodgy the active ingredient has to be the same, so all your looking for is a name other people have told you is kosher.
Hi Wingy, I had the same pertinent with 4 meds now with the MFG problems. I called my insurance, made them call pharmacy, and ordered me a replacement generic. (wanna know something ironic? The drug I told needed to b changed, they asked what works. I told them Teva works. Came home got the name brand med, and the MFG was...... TEVA USA). Hope I helped a little.
I don't know where you live but West Towne Pharmacy uses Qualitest on their prescriptions, just like the brand name, and love the people there. It's in Paducah Ky. West Towne Pharmacy. Love Love them.
Generally, a pharmacy will stock the product from whichever manufacturer is offering the cheapest price, at the time they need to restock their supply. They do this, in order to keep prices as low as possible for customers that do not have prescription insurance coverage.
The FDA warns that Lorazepam carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability.
And no, most pharmacies will not accept a return, once you have left the premises with any given medication, due to the risk of tampering and contamination.
Does anyone else have information on the Kaiser pharmacies? According to what I was aware, they accepted various insurance plans, as well as self-play, it was just the Kaiser customers that got the best price.
