Purple Wellbutrin 150 Mg Sr Generic By Zyben (Top voted first)
UpdatedI WAS TAKING WELLBUTRIN SR. 150MG X 3 A DAY. THE PILLS WERE PURPLE, AND IN GENERIC, AND LOST A LOT OF WEIGHT ON IT. HOW EVER, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONE CO. TO ANOTHER, AND GOT YELLOW OR WHITE WELLBUTRIN, AND I GAINED 40 POUNDS IN 7 MONTH TIME. I THINK THE PURUPLE ONES WERE BY ZYBEN BUT I KNOW THEY WERE VERY EFFECTIVE FOR ME. DOES ANY ONE HAD THIS EXPERIANCE LIKE THAT, AND TELL ME WHAT DRUG CO. THEY USED? THANK-YOU, VERED

I have been taking the purple bupropion Hcl Sr tabs 150 mg with marking of E 415 on them for several years. I did very well on them and finally went to once daily with complete success. Then my mail order pharmacy switched me to the white ones that have the marking WPI 839 on them. I am so dizzy in the morning, and so exhausted in the afternoons. They really are not working at all. I am glad to hear that some of you also have experienced this. I had about 7 of the old ones left, so I experimented for a week and used them again. NO PROBLEMS! So I really don't think it's "all in my head." I am going to try to get my old purple happy pills back!
Yes, there can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one company to the other and the inactive ingredients can be completely different.
If you gained that much weight, then there's a good chance that you were getting more of the active ingredient than usual, because weight gain can be a normal side effect of this medication.

Have you tried asking your pharmacy to order the prior ones in for you? They should be able to do so, but you may have to pay the different between it and the current generic, since most insurance companies won't do so.
There are two types of Wellbutrin (bupropion).. One is XL, the other is SL. There is a huge difference between the two. I learned from personal experience.
My pharmacy made a mistake and sent the SL instead of the XL. I didn't realize the error until my symptoms returned. I called my doctor, as well as the pharmacy, to correct their error.
Bottom Line: I no longer use mail order pharmacies. They have a greater chance of error than your local pharmacy. And I recommend getting to know your pharmacist. to be sure you have an intelligent one.
BTW, the mail order pharmacy, never took responsibility for their mistake. I am thankful that it wasn't a life sustaining med. Otherwise, I wouldn't be alive to share my story.. ROTTB-NPHLT-MVL
Don't kne when u wrote this but a couple of mos after my pharmacy switched from the purple to white Wellbutrin, I told my pharmacist the white was nit as effective. I'm not sure how long that's been but I have gained much weight and am again very depressed and anxious. I see that Xl is now being pulled. I wonder if we can expect the same for sr or if this will be isolated. I requested name brand and learns it will cost $354 mo as my ins will it cover the name brand. Are there alternatives. My dr and pharmacist suggest I go to 3 of the 150 generic but taking that much makes me worry about seizures and why take more med than I need if it is just that the generic of this particular med is less effective than the nam brand. Can I get name brand from another country for less. I have a precription.
Yes .. I was taking the purple 150 mgs bupropian and lost 17 pounds in 1 month. I filled my perscription last montg and was given a light green color which has increased my appetite dramatically and csused nausia... I found another local pharamacy that carry the purple zyban brand which I will be picking up in a few days.. So if your pharmacy stopped carrying the kind you were originally takung then find another pharmacy.. Best of wishes to you.
My experience has been the opposite affect. I've mainly used the white generics in WB and lost weight and it seemed to help with my stress/anxiety symptoms. I know by looking at the size and texture of the white ones I'm getting a different generic at different times by different manufacturers. I have managed to take the purple pills twice and both times I've gained weight. It seemed to do the same for my symptoms but the weight gain is awful. I'm trying not to get the purple ones from my pharmacy.
keep in mind there is a difference from the XL n SL ...aftee taking the green 150 mg SL....I thought my appetite increased...however I havnt gained weight I lost 10 lbs. a total of 27 lbs which conerns me Im 5'8 and now 137 lbs which is not alarming just yet...nI make sure to take lots of vitamins and protein..im back on the purple kind now
I took Wellbutrin XL 150 BID approximately 4 years ago. When I first began the medicine, it helped so much. I stopped taking the medicine after having an allergic reation to it. I did notice that the pills I got were different colors purple and then white. After staying off the medicine for 3 years and being diagnoised with Lupus I thought perhap the itchy rash was from the Lupus not the Wellbutrin. Unforntuately that was not the case. After takiing 2 generic Wellbutrin XL I developed an extremely itchy red rash. The medicine works great for my depression and anxiety and my mood improved after just 1 pill. Has anyone else had this problem? Wondering if I would have the same reaction if I tried the brand name. I"m almost to scared to try but I haven't found anything that works as well for me (except for the itchy rash, of course).
Had the exact same experience. Like to never convince people that I needed the purple pill instead of the yellow or the white. Too bad they tell you they're all the same because obviously they're not.
i had same experience, was first on brand name, till the patent ran out, lost 50#, didn't need to eat, great energy, great libido, now i'm bigger than ever and lost all the other bennies as well....it's well...'depressing'. to say the least.
i eat when i'm full and almost throwing up.
i just recently got approved for the brand name version, approved by dr and insurance company, BUT it's $4,000/month !!! I can't pay that.
and imagine what the insurance company did once i got the approval...? All of a sudden my insurance was canceled. Said i didn't pay, i showed them checks they've been cashing, then said, oh its because you moved, I didn't move. finally after fighting for 3 months got my insurance back, Thanks Obama! (and i pay 100% for my insurance and probably for many others with the taxes i pay)
What was the good one -- SR or XL, and what was the strength of the individual pills? Thanks!
purple one the HCl one was the good one. purple pill with E 415 on them
I was on the yellow wellbutrin tab and lost over 100 pounds then my new dr put me on the purple one and I feel worse I'm constantly fighting my weight again now. I plan on going back on the yellow one.
