Prozac. Discontinuation
UpdatedWhat happens when you stop taking Prozac. I have taken it for 35 years and currently take 40 mg a day. What is the best way to stop?

Hello, Kate! How are you?
It would best to speak to your doctor, so they can help you set up a slow tapering schedule. Prozac is an SSRI that has a relatively long half-life, so it's usually easier to stop that most of the others, but you may still experience some withdrawal effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, rebound depression, rebound anxiety, weight gain and vaginal bleeding.
Is there anything else I can help with?
