UpdatedWhat is stronger: Propranolol 20mg or Oxycontin?

Hi rose,
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Propranolol and Oxycontin are two completely different medications. One is for high blood pressure and one is for pain relief, so there's really no logical way to compare their efficacy.
You also can't compare two medications without knowing the dosage of both of them. Just saying one is more potent than the other still leaves me wondering what you might be referring to with regards to potency?

I hope this helps!
I have been taking propranolol for about four months for having heart pal pt reactions due to a inflamed thyroid my question is my doctor said I should it need them anymore so I took my last half a one yesterday how long does it take for it to get out my system and will I have any problems or withdrawls without them it was 20 mgs twice a day
Light blue round pill V on one side and 54/83 on reverse what is this?
I have been told by hospital Dr to completely stop my propanalol I was on 90mg daily is this safe to do so as I'm already having terrible side effects after day 3 off them
I am not sure if I am just being over imaginative. I am however almost sure that I am not. I have lowered my propranolol dosage of 3 x 10mg a day very slowly. 3 weeks at taking 2 tablets. Three weeks at taking one tablet and so on down to half for a fortnight. I have now stopped completely. I am not sure how I thought I would feel. Today is day two without any at all and I am amazed that I feel anxious and jittery. The blooming things did not even seem to help me when I was taking them. . Is this feeling still likely to be withdrawal.? Any advice would be appreciated.
Jany, every time I try to get off this stuff, that happens. Is it normal, I don't know for sure, but I know it happens to me.
Is Propranolol 20 mgs a narcotic? What is its usage and how bad are the side effects?
Hi Jeff - no, propranolol is not considered a narcotic. It is a beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure.
Propranolol may cause sleep disturbances such as insomnia and vivid dreams. Adverse drug reactions associated with propranolol therapy are similar to other lipophilic beta blockers. You can see a more comprehensive list of side effects under the Adverse Effects heading on the page Beta Blocker Details.
