Prolia Side Effects (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Jaw problems for sure which began almost immediately after the first of my 7 injections the last of which was 2 years ago. I also have aching thigh bones none of which has dissipated. Why I didn't twig before allowing myself to be bullied into more than the first I'll never know. I'm afraid we just trust our medicos. Never again.
thanks for reply, just had email from her this morning saying she had a terrible night and feels rough with pain and nausea, so will once again post your reply, as it does help her feel better knowing she,s not alone and hopefully time will clear her system of it. l truly hope the authorities are doing a survey on the feedback.
I am only 3 months in and still feel terrible most the time ... I don't hardly sleep at all. I won't be taking this drug again.
I took 1 dose of Atelvia and I was our of work for 3 days and sick for 7 days. This medicene is a once a week dose. I would not take it again. My doctor recommeneded Prolia. I have been reading about it and since I am very sensitive to drugs, I will definitely not be taking Prolia. Thanks for all your info. If any one knows of any other solution to Osteo - please let me know
He is a wonderful Doctor ... Let me tell you I used the work in a hospital pharmacy ... I made the IV's TPNS and Chemo. Doctors would come to the pharmacy all the time and ask the pharmacist about the drugs ... The doctors only have to have 1 year of Pharmacology while the Pharmacist have to have 7. Who would you choose to believe ? Also The Pharmacist have to keep up on the drugs. Doctors just have drug reps come into the office and tell them. Doctors do not know what a drug does to the body but a pharmacist has to know! I asked all my doctors but the oldest one was the one that told me he would not take any of thios stuff. If you want to know about a drug go to a pharmacist in a hospital.
It is 10 weeks now since my PROLIA shot. I am continuing to suffer greatly from horrible side effects of aches and pains in muscles and bones throughout my body, high acidity and indigestion, frequent flushes and sweating alternating with chills. My rib cage is hurting so bad that I can't sleep or lay in bed at night. Three month ago I was a 65 years old healthy and active person diagnosed with osteopenia. I never had any fractures or broken bones and the doctor who suggested this poison for me as a preventative measure is a criminal who should burn in hell along with all others that are pushing PROLIA for monetary gains!
I discussed taking Prolia with my GP after my rheumotologist told me to take it and said "don't read the side effects in the brochure". After reading all the negative comments about this drug I was petrified to take this drug. My GP said not to take it because not enough is known about it yet. It's still a 'new' drug. He said just to take more vitamin D.
My dad went into the hospital again this week on Monday. Several more side effects of this drug that doctors arent familiar with until you tell them to research on line.!!! Sad! Amgen employed drug reps are NOT doing a good job at informing doctors. Dad was admitted to one hospital as as of this minute is being transferred to a bigger hospital where more specialist hopefully can figure out what to do for him. I reported earlier, please see the problems up until now. Dad has a severe case of pneumonia, a blood clot in his leg, had a mild heart attack ( hmmmm wonder if that could have connection to his low blood calcium level that Prolia causes!), he has horrible muscle cramps and jerking! Amgen is just an awful company to deal with, I've called them twice and reported all of this then I called the FDA to make sure they reported this. Its a long process to figure it out even though legally they are supposed to report to FDA but believe me, I'll take the time to know if they've reported it or not and if they haven't there will be further action. Dad was close to death yesterday, I hope he can pull thru. All side effects started 3 days after his 1st injection. BEWARE and warn people of this drug.
Where is the FDA? How long do we have to suffer?
Folks, I want to warn anyone who is planning on getting a shot of Prolia to treat bone density. I had one shot a month ago, and ended up in intensive care. My calcium and magnesium levels dropped dangerously, and I was told I was lucky my heart didn't stop.
I was pumped full of calcium via IVs, and was finally released from the hospital. Since then, the same symptoms have persisted that I got when I received the shot. Flu-like symptoms with no appetite, constantly tired, nausea and diarrhea. The shot is supposed to last for 6 months, so I am assuming I'm stuck with the symptoms for that long.
I then researched the drug on medical web sites and discovered thousands of other people who have experienced the same result from receiving a Prolia shot. I want to warn everyone to reconsider if a Prolia shot is planned in your future. There is a movement to file a class-action lawsuit against the manufacturer, and there have been thousands of complaints filed with the FDA.
The drug is Prolia. The side effects are devastating. Please reconsider before you receive this treatment for bone density!
Re: Sal (# 2893)
I absolutely confirm what you stated about what I call "doctor denial syndrome". My doctor assured me that he had given Prolia to many patients and no one ever had side effects. When I reported my side effects, he flatly stated that these problems had nothing to do with Prolia even though that was the only thing new in my system. Of course "no one ever has side effects" if all reports of side effects are ignored or denied.
Re: Marion (# 3010)
Hi, very excellent advice. I also had 7 shots and as I progressed, my pains became worst, unbearable back, neck, legs! I also had many of other the horrible side effects of this poison. I wish I had done research before I ever took the first shot, I trusted my oncologist, and she later apologized for ordering it for me. When I had to go to my GP for pain medicine, and told him I had been taken Prolia, he checked my records and was not notified that I was taking this horrible drug, he said he would have called me in to his office to tell me never take another shot, he said he would not give it to his patients! I am still suffering from the damage this drug did to my body! 2015 was my last shot. Now being given to bone cancer patients. POISON for me, thanks for your post.
Prolia was the worst drug I have ever taken. I have had most of the horrible side effects of this horrible drug. I have permanent muscle and joint damage, back problems, vertigo, skin issues and hair loss. As I have stated many time, Prolia was a horrible drug for me and I will never take it again. Poison for my whole body and nerve system. Wish I had researched it before I ever took it. Horrible side effects.
Re: Marion (# 3109)
My GP told me none of his patients had any side effects before I got the shot. When I called him about my side effects he said it was not due to the shot. When I researched and mailed him the written statements that this was a cancer med, and that hair loss affected many, and bone pain was not uncommon, he just chose not to respond. I don't get it. Why would a doctor not even consider the possibility that there was a problem with this drug?
Re: Daisy (# 3101)
I think I a small improvement with my bone density on Prolia but not much. When I found out it wasn't doing much I had to fight to get my rheumatologist to take me off of it. I flat out refused. All of these drugs make me nervous with their drastic side effects.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
I have used it. One injection and am still suffering from side effects. Made my osteoporosis pain worse, affected my asthma so terribly that now I have attacks quite often and lung infections, impacted my endocrine system so now I have allergic type flares for nothing like inflammation of my face and right ear and mouth. So yes I Wish I had never believe my endocrinologist and will forever blame her for my current state. It is a drug that was modified from a drug for bone cancer and given to otherwise healthy women because it has made pharma lots of $$$. Everyone I have met have had reactions but did not know it because doctors connected their symptoms to other issues they had. I could write a book and will never recommend or support these drugs. I now am attending therapy called OSTEOSTRONG and will test my density at the six month mark to see if anything has changed. Will report back. Look up Osteostrong especially if you live in the US if Canada I think only 2 clinics so far.
hi sedona, will copy and paste your reply also, as my friend says she,s glad to read them knowing she,s not on her own with how she feels, she thought she was going mad, anyway goo luckii
Barbie, sorry to hear you have suffered like this. I have recently had terrible pain in my jaw with headaches. My doctor has referred me to a specialist and I have to get a cat scan of may jaw. Just waiting for the insurance approval. I too have had itching especially in the scalp. At least my hair did not fall out. It has been like having the flu for 5 months with alot of GI issues. There difnatley will be no more Polia for me and I am sending a detailed report about what happened to me to the FDA. I would not be surprised to see a class action law suit over this medicine in the future - I have heard so many people have had problems. Take care Lynne
You are lucky to have a good doctor, the Pulmonary one, that adviced you against any of these drugs.
That's more then I got here, they either ignore me, tell me, its not Prolia, and then to add insult to injury, say all drugs have side affects. Or, its not my specialty, anything, just to get rid of the patient that needs desparate help.
I too pray that after 6 months things will slowly get out of my system, but so much damage has been done, the growth of some old injuries, the bony gums, the separation of teeth, the aches and pains, and the fatigue.
Never again, will I take anything that will be given to me as I trully believe, that they are trying out new drugs for the big Pharma and big bucks.
Now that I quit taking the Prolia I am starting to feel better. I was suppose to take it Oct 24 but refused it.
To all the people that are still taking the drug please talk to your Pharmacist about it. I did and new right away I never should have taken the drug. I have COPD and it just made it worse for me. Please please, talk to your Pharmacists .
Merry Christmas SedonaIV
