Prolia Side Effects (Page 99)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Thank you. This is most helpful. I am now 4 mos. Since my last, and I do mean LAST shot.
Sal-with moving teeth you don't go to a regular dentist. You have to go to the ones that do implants, gum work, etc. Some people here have reported they had braces put on their teeth but no one ever bothered to post back if it worked or not. I am one week out of having two implants put in and Prolia could not move farther because there was a titanium implant stopping it. Otherwise, I would have needed a lot more implants. Two is more than sufficient. Amgen should have to pay for them because this is NOT written in their side effects. No where. No place!! Be well~Pood
Oh that is what this dentist is. Although he is a general dentist he is also certified to do oral surgery, implants, peril and ortho. He is a member of an elite dental society in which it's members are also trained and certified in multiple specialties.
The teeth that are moving are on the top directly over the sockets where teeth were extracted. I was afraid to have implants so I had a partial / removable bridge. That was over 20 years ago; and I was warned that this would happen. The top teeth in question are sliding down. When I moved here I researched him carefully,
since I previously was treated by Columbia U. faculty.
At least I postponed implants by 20 years!
Now, If I could just take off the weight.
Since dieting has has not worked, I have given it up. I now eat like a French woman. Since the cycle of painful stiffness ended, I have been pretty active; yet the scale hasn't changed.
Now, off to Pilates !
This is me to. Ive had two shots so far. Not sure about the third???? I hurt in my leg bones cant sleep headachs blowing up with hot spells and sweating. Im bout bonkers. My bone mass is really bad and im 58, have fibro and thyroi problems.
I too have Fibro and thyroid problems, and I am 69. I am DONE with Prolia, the side effects are worse than I ever experienced with Fibro or Myocardial Pain. Instead I am keeping my diet alkaline, doing resistance, Pilates and yoga, plus yoga for osteo.
Ps. I forgot to list TTAPP as another exercise program. This has been my go-to exercise program for years and prevented me from progressing to Osteoporosis. It was after an extended period of inactivity and inadequate diet following surgery that I progressed to Osteoporosis.
I go back in a few weeks to see the doctor that prescribed the Prolia. She's the doctor who said my side effects were not caused by Prolia but because I was anxious! She's also not a "bone" doctor but a ob-gyn dr. I know she's going to discuss what I should take instead of Prolia so I'm wondering what others have done. She's in big time with pharma! I had some time ago been on Actonel , weekly, and after so many years my GP told me to stop. I was then just borderline osteopenia. I also want to see another Dr. but she is so arrogant and probably tell me not to waste her time. My gut tells me to handle it naturally. My problem now is that I am limited(for how long, I don't know) from weight bearing exercises as I have a rotator cuff tear and am waiting for an MRI next week to find out what can be done for it. I do take 4000 units of D but stopped some years ago from taking calcium and try to get it from diet. However if need be I may have to try meds again and if so have any of you had success with one without horrendous side effects.
It seems that all these "treatments " cause other problems. I look back at my mother and grandmother who both lived into their late 80s and 90s and except for a small break when my grandmother slipped going down some stairs, they had minimal problems besides getting shorter! ( or maybe I was just getting taller!)
Judy, see my post. Also, if you are anywhere near New York City, see Dr. Loren Fishman. He can help you with the Osteo and your shoulder using yoga. If you cannot see him check out his books and I think he is on Youtube.
Judy i also get my calcium from food, but am limited related to thyroid hormone and calcium interaction. Instead i use bone vroth protein and put collegen powder in my coffee every morning. I took 4 injections of prolia with a hortible skin rash that continues 4month later with a flare up begore each 16 day half life of the drug. So i understand your delima.
Oh Judy another thought , for me to keep my d3 level above 50 which is optimal i have to take 5000units of vitamin d3 dail and 10,000 every sunday
I have the same issue with thyroid meds and calcium. I also take bone broth, but I add green vegetables to it.
In addition to lots of fruit and veg ( mostly green ) I add alkaline ( mineral )
drops to my water.
Re: dental work after Prolia--Mine just told me not to come back until all the side effects of Prolia were gone. He gave me no deadline. He also said if you have any problems, go to the Maxofacial Implant guys. Prolia left. Went to my dentist and got what I needed done and on to the implant guys for two. Pood
Pood,
My best wishes . I hope you have an easy time.
Great! Glad you are getting work done! I'm going to hold off another 6 months for prolia to contine to leave my system !
It was easy. I was sedated and only had minor jaw pain. Forgot all about it while I was gone and chomped into an apple and it didn't hurt anything. The stitches came out Thurs which was about a week. In Sept. I get the crowns from my regular dentist. I still totally and completely believe Amgen should have to pay for these because that side effect is listed no where. I may wander down to our local ambulance chaser and see if he has the $$ for a nation wide suit against Amgen on this issue. I know I am far from the only one. You ladies in Canada should do the same. It never hurts to ask. The worst they can say is 'no'.
Me to Sal, green powder has an alkalinizing effect
Harley, the thyroid has many functions and Prolia does mess with it BIG TIME. If I'm not mistaken, even part of our thyroid creates the T-cell and T-cell killers that Prolia deletes from our bodies. Diana O. had to have surgery on hers at the end of just one injection. You may want to search the net for 'what are the purposes of our thyroid glands and you will see why you feel so badly. Be well~Pood
Poodle,
How are you. I hope you are recovering smoothly.
Today I bought some new clothes since none of my warm weather clothes fit me. Not only have I gone up two sizes, I have gone from slim fit to curvey. YIKES??. I certainly am not eating enough to produce that kind of weight gain. In between flares of painful stiffness I am very active. The weight gain was sudden.
