I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I had my second shot of Prolia on a Thursday and started with Shingles on Friday. I am seeing it described as a lumpy rash on many forums. I do believe there is a link. Although it will be some time before all of the potential side effects of Prolia are realized - Doctors cant learn or report side effects if they refuse to acknowledge they exist!

Yikes, I just bought magnesium bisglycinate In gel form from a health food store. Couldn't find ant in the drug store. So far I've only taken one and no cramping etc. I'll wait and see.
Good luck with the crown casting....I'm envious. I still have a while for that. Any yes, Amgen should pay for all the dental problems they've created.

While on Prolia my normally good Cholesterol numbers went up, now 16 months after my last shot it is still up. My Dr. and I have a disagreement over wether or not I should take meds. Naturally, I am opposed to taking meds.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Re: Magnesium. You cannot have a 'clear' gel type capsule. It has to be a hard tablet that is kelated(sp?). That should stop the diarrhea problem. If the diarrhea is only from a Magnesium supplement that is. Ask the Pharmacist when you go in about it. Magnesium is also made into Milk of Magnesia which is supposed to cause one to go to the bathroom. I got a different brand and found it to be a big problem in that area. Prolia also causes gluten intolerance that leads to diarrhea too. Going to the dentist in the morn. for casting of my crowns. FiNALLY!! Amgen should have to pay for them and the implants. Be well my friend~

I am so very sorry for your loss. It would seem to me that you have a great chance to file a medical malpractice suit. I suggest you contact an attorney immediately due to the Statute of Limitations. With deepest sympathy~

Sorry to hear this. My mother was also dialysis and the specialist gave her this horrible drug. After the kidney transplantation, she died. She had osteoporosis. I miss her every day.

my mother was a dialysis patient and received a kidney from a living donor family member. she had to wait a year for the transplant because there was no ok available. When my mother was weakened by the prolia and was paralyzed, they transplanted her and removed the kidney from the healthy family member. my mother eventually died. they have experimented with her to see if a dialysis patient stage 5 does not urinate and almost does not drink what the consequences are

I feel so bad for you. Please know the same happened with my dad. 1 shot and so sick starting 2 days later and he never recovered. He died 8 months after the 1 and only injection. No one would listen to me before he was taken to get the shot, they refuse to realize it to this day and simply get irate at me if I mention it. He never had cancer, had never been diagnosed in previous years with osteoporosis and was 81 years old when the goof ball doctor prescribed this to my poor dad. Unfortunately, my mom and brother refused to read the info I found before my mom took him to get the shot and it was a horrible experience. 81 yr old man and get prescribed this to start fighting osteoporosis is absolutely absurd on ANY doctor's part. I'm still sick in my heart about the struggle he went thru after getting this poison. It was a slow death!

It must be so stressful for you.

Regarding magnesium. For me, Mag. L Threonate seems to have less GI effects.
Also, taking Mag.with Calcium can help.

Actually, poodle, it was an oral surgeon who did the bone graft and will also do the implant. It will be my dentist who does the crown. I have had a implant done before when I had a back molar pulled (also due to infection) and the same oral surgeon did the implant. Luckily I didn't need a bone graft. She is one of the top in Toronto. I was most interested in taking magnesium for muscles as I suffer terribly from upper back and shoulder pain but magnesium gives me terrible cramps and diarrhea. Mind you, in Toronto we have had a tragedy of boggling proportions where 10 people were run down and killed by a van on out sidewalks just 10 minutes from us so all my muscles have been especially tensed up. Is there any magnesium that doesn't cause bowel problems?

Have you thought about taking a Magnesium supplement to help your muscles? We really cannot store calcium in the human body and the only place for Prolia to get any is in our muscles. The Magnesium should straighten out that problem if, indeed, it is muscles causing the leakage. It could be a quick fix for your problem. Be well~Pood

Judy (# 2384) --We don't use dentists for this in the US. We have to go to a specialist although a few dentists do crowns but not the bone grafting part. I'm going in Monday to my dentist for casting of crowns with the little posts put on my implants that will attach firmly to the implants. I don't think that excessive bone is going anywhere. I went up to complain because I thought it was the implants going bad so they yanked hard on each and it didn't hurt so had to be the bone graft of which they used waaaayyyyy toooo much! Also something strange goes on with our teeth as we get older. I was complaining to my older brother about my bottoms getting crooked and he said remember mine - I had a space between the 2 front teeth and it now gone so they must start to shift around when we get older. He does not have osteoporosis. This really should be listed on the side effects of Prolia because it's not just you, me and the other lady that lost a whole mouth full. It's impossible that there are only 3 of us with this problem. I had a different problem and contacted the FDA last week. They were really on the ball with that one and sent me a lot of paperwork to fill out and attach photos. Apparently, some things do get their attention. And, to think that Prolia is in just about every country in the world now. Wrists are really weak with Osteoporosis or Ostepenia. It does not necessarily mean ALL of your bones are bad. Hang in there. We have been on a long ride pretty much together. Be well~Pood

Re: Laura (# 2395) Expand Referenced Message
I will answer on mine. Prolia ate the roots of two back teeth on the left side. I too had to have bone put in. The only thing that saved the remainder of my teeth was that Prolia ran into a titanium implant that it was unable to pass. That was the least of my problems. It also caused a cataract that I had to have removed and a new lens put in and had to go to a large city because the Dr. here did not want to even touch it. He did the after surgery part for me tho. The list gets very long when I write down all my side effects. I lost 68 pounds in 2 months that I could not afford to lose and I went to my Rheumatologist and she asked what was wrong with me and I replied you and your dam Prolia. She got busy really fast and teamed up with an immunologist. We all should have Immunologists because Prolia deletes the T-Cells and T-Cell helpers and that is the reason for all of the serious infections we get with Prolia. Hope this helps you. Be well~Pood
