Prolia Side Effects (Page 147) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Nice to hear from you old friend. Are you coming for the Class Reunion this year? I'm going to be out of town. Get busy with your art and you will feel better. I thought you got pretty much straightened out when they operated on your Thyroid. I seem to be hugely MISTAKEN. When does ALL of this totally disappear from our lives? Hugs.
Re: Poodle (# 2431)
Poodle ,re my bone graft. The oral surgeon couldn't do the implant at the same time as there was so much bone loss in the upper front gums. She said she would try to do both at the same time but when she cut into the gums she realized that the implant would not hold. Thus , I now have to wait. I got the flipper after the front tooth was pulled. Vanity, thy name is woman....i couldn't go around smiling with no front tooth.
And yes I agree about paying in order to have my health. Fortunately here in Canada we have a national health system which covers doctors, hospitals, etc and them I also have extended health insurance!
Enjoy your new teeth and good luck with the knee.
Re: Edie (# 2428)
Same thing happens to me with every medico I speak to on the subject. How can they deny the obvious other than having some sort of kickback from the stuff. My physiotherapist is the only one who believes me and that is because his own mother had problems with statin medications that would have killed her had he not intervened and stopped her taking them. This has made him appreciate that some people do have serious side effects which doctors tend to ignore.
Re: Poodle (# 2430)
hey its me again. Has anyone reported weird skin issues, 2-3 years after one injection? I have been battling a fiery burning and grotesque skin problem, primarily on my entire back but spots on leg and other parts flaring off and on. Ive always had gorgeous skin....its freaking me out, besides the constant burning. Im off steriods and creams for a couple weeks......it may be unrelated, but never had these issues b4...been through 2 drs..plus one dermatologist.

This is a new one on me. Since Prolia affects the Immune system, it might be worthwhile to request testing your Ige level. This a measure of immune response.
Re: sal (# 2437)
I ended up with severe hyperparathryoid - had the tumor and parathryoid that was afffected (one gland, not all four) removed and related tumor on thyroid removed - - have had a good increase on bone density since, feel incredibly better - - not perfect, but better. Bone density is much better except for right hip where the bursitis kicked in after the injection. After almost 3 years, the hip remains cranky.
Just broke a rib though, lifting a suitcase, so thinking bones are still fragile, but heck I'm in my 70's . . . so yes, definitely connected. In fact, I think there is some research on this out there. On the other hand, I broke a leg in my 20's - did I have osteoporosis then? I don't think so.
Re: Lizzie (# 2419)
Please notice my most recent response to you on page 1 here. I found there are 3 women that have leaking after the Prolia. One could have been you as they just stated the age of the woman, not any type of name at all. Thus, we know for sure you are not the only one in the US to have this side effect. Have you called Amgen about it? Do it now if you have not. They are required by law to contact the FDA about side effects. You can also contact the FDA by phone and they will send the paperwork to your home to be filled out and sent back to them. Look up their toll free number on the net. Be well~
dialysis and prolia injection. who knows something more about it. may you prescribe this rubbish to a patient who is dialyzed. I understand that this poison remains in your blood and can not be filtered out. I come from Europe and want to know more about it
Re: ANTONETTE (# 2449)
If Prolia is not an option, what would you take for osteoporosis?
Thank you!
Re: Dee (# 2453)
I have Pamidronate infusions and find them really good, started 3 monthly, now 6 monthly. All the fractures in my spine are healed and i am no longer in a wheelchair.
After the 1st dose i had a severe reaction and ended up in A&E but my body is now used to it.
Re: Lynne (# 3)
I was offered Prolia too. I looked it up first. In men it could cause severe back pain! I opted out! Prolia requires 2 shots or whatever, a year. I thought, “what if I had back pain for 6 months!” That’s when I said NO!!
Re: Judy (# 2459)
and Dottie i too haf the smin rashs and depression and immune system damage to an already comorimised one related to Hashimotos thyroiditis. I am almost 1.5 yrs past my last injection still suffering side effect of skin sensitivity and depression which by the way u never had issues with euther problem before. According to Poodle the effects you sufferred from will be lasting potentially lufetime but no other effects will surface from the Prolia.
Re: Elaine (# 2468)
I did not state it lasts a 'lifetime'. I stated that the side effects of Prolia do not go away when the drug does after the 5th month. Some last a long time after the one and only injection. I am on about 4 years after my one and only injection and still have some problems as to the muscle spasms and my hair shedding worse than a dog. It caused my Celiac Disease to come out of hiding (never knew I had it before) and I am still dealing with side effects from that. Sometimes I can eat all the gluten I want and then suddenly no! I have to be totally gluten free for some months and then start over again. The only side effect I know for sure is permanent is DEATH. If any of us has something in our DNA that was previously unknown, Prolia brings it to the center front. I hope this clarifies some issues we are all facing here. Be well~
Re: TransplantedYankee (# 2470)
That was supposedly the reasoning for mine. She wanted me to have healthy bone for my total knee replacement. Big problem in her thinking - What surgeon is stupid enough to operate on a person with a very faulty immune system!! Now that 3+ years have passed, the TKR is scheduled for June 2018. Finally. Not looking forward to it but will be very nice to be out of pain. Be well~
Re: Elaine (# 2468)
I just made a post to you at the top re: depression. Read it and act on it. Be well~
Re: Poodle (# 2475)
That makes a lot of sense. I have just been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism which I've never known before. Is it possible that Prolia has had anything to do with this or am I just being paranoid?
Re: Judy (# 2485)
Thanks. Again an example of a health care system that is not profit based.
My bone density had become depleted after a long period of inactivity following surgery; and I did experience vertebral fractures, nothing to do with falling
Have had three Prolia injections so far. The side effects have been mild to moderate. They have included occasional, mild to severe muscle and joint pains, insomnia, palpitations, fatigue, apathy, depression, and irritability. I was not experiencing these before the injections. The side effects have lasted for about two months after each injection and then they fade out and then I feel normal again. Do not yet know if bone density has improved. Would like to come off of it, but am afraid of the rebound effects now that there are reports of multiple fractures occurring within months or years of coming off it. My rheumalogist suggested Zoledronate injections for when I stop the Prolia, but a recent Science Daily article featured research showing that even Zoledronate does not stop the rebound effects!! How do I get off it safely ????
Re: Tomas (# 2487)
A small fracture in a vertebra is not going to cause you that much damage. It's nice to read that someone can take this medication without really serious side effects. Just stop it. We all did. It does not matter in the least how long you have been on it. Your Rheumatologist should have a bone scan ordered for you now tho. If your bone scan is good enough, you could stay off of any bone building medication for awhile. We have elected to not take any and so far we are all doing quite well. Be well~
Re: Poodle (# 2475)
So appalled by the drug company that is causing these terrible side affects...it is like a NEW LATEST & GREATEST drug my mother was put on instead of Warfarin, Elequis, it is killing people & the company is now becoming being sued. It was taken off the market in USA but not Australia, my mother still suffers the terrible affects, she was one of the lucky ones that it didn't cause Death.
