Prolia Side Effects (Page 13)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I would like to know if there is anyone who has had the prolia shot, and then experienced excruciating and debilitating lower back pain. My question is- has their back pain ever resolved? How long after the last prolia injection did it take for the back pain to diminish?
is there a class action lawsuit related to the side effects that people have experienced with prolia? I am watching my father suffer from debilitating back pain that he did not have until after receiving prolia.
No lawsuit yet but we are all waiting.
I;m still suffering back pain and hand and wrist problems and it's now just over 1 year since my last injection.
Yesterday I talked to a retired pharmaceutical salesperson. He said many of the new salespersons are not that informed, the occasion for intellectually sound exchange on drug information does not occur, and it is more about selling a product. YOU ARE AT RISK WITH ANY DRUG! We can only share our reactions with one another.
It has been five weeks since my shot. I still wake up feeling like I was in a car accident. The pain from wearing a bra is not worth the effort. I still itch. The deep bone pain is off and on. The joint pain is there. I have problems with my heart racing. I have to be careful about how far I try to walk. My ability to function is limited. How I wish my doctor had listened to me or looked at my records. There were 4 reasons for him to NEVER prescribe the Prolia shot.
Hi CJ
I had my first and last shot of Prolia February 13/12. Concequently I will never have another shot. My hands, feet and lower back are very painful. I can hardly walk some days. I can't open jars etc. My back some days isn't too bad, I still wake in the night and it is because my back is hurting. My pain dr. said it should be out of my system by now - not true. Reading some of the other comments I think we are in for a long wait for this drug to get out of or system. I have heart palpatations I am seeing a Cardiologist on Nov 5 for an echo stress test. Hope we all get better soon. By the way has anyone's blood pressure gone up. Mine was always low 118/72 now it is 150/78. Please let me know. Irene
Had my Prolia shot in August, 2011. Have had a severe unseen burning sensation on my chin, and cheeks. Mouth, teeth and lips burn all the time. Skin of my legs feel strange sometimes. It has completely changed my personality. Eyes feel dry like the moisture is being sucked out of them. I'm just not the same person I once was. I've seen neurologist. Medication does not help. Was glad to find out it wasn't MS or Lupus.
I have been having excrutiating back pain, sore eyes, bony growths on my gums, 4 bladder infections, and I had 1 Prolia injection April 7, 2011. A small tear in my retina appeared out of nowhere, had it corrected by laser treatment - my muscles are very weak, and am very tired, not like me, used to walk 7 miles, now I dread going to the grocery stores. I have been prescribed Tramadol 37.5 for pain, but, this too has so many side effects, don't take it, other pills do nothing.
Do not take any opiots, just finished 7 day run for bladder infection, life has been hell. Doctor this morning asked what is Prolia, he took it down in his ipad, shows, its to be given to people with prostrate cancer.
Cardiologist told me to walk, my left leg has little pulse, and developed red marks and small blood clots, and my legs feel like I would collapse from tiredness.
Hoping for the day I will get better. Have no osteoporosis, the only sin I did, was to fall Dec on an ice piece to feed the birds and broke my wrist. They decided there was a new product on the market, and yes, I was the the lucky one. The doctor never mentioned anything about side effects, I just trusted.
Sad story.
I am going to my pharmacy today, and I will check for you.
Sorry for the delay.
Anyone who has an adverse reaction to Prolia needs to report it to the FDA. Go to their web page and fill in the information. They need to know how serious the side effects are. I still think the research was flawed. I cannot believe the FDA would allow anything as dangerous and detrimental as this on the market. There needs to be a class action lawsuit..
I verified with my pharmacy that the Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite Complex is the same at Calcium Citrate. They did not confirm it was better, just that it was the same.
Hi Dee - Thanks for confirming the info with your Pharmacist. I am glad I did not try Prolia....fortunately I found this site and let my Doc know that I did not want to use Prolia. I am trying some Coral Calcium in the meantime .... but meantime is there anything can we do to help all of those suffering side effects from Prolia ?
tomorrow I am going to pick up some additional vits and I will try and meet with him again. I'll ask about anything that he may be able to suggest to help with lessening the symptoms of this terrible drug. Once again I am so thankful I listened to that voice in my head that told me to question what was being suggested. I have started a prayer chain for those suffering from taking the shot. I don't know names, but our Lord knows who is suffering.
Hi Dee, Saw my urologist a week ago, and told him about Prolia and the side effects that I have and been having. He looked up his ipad, and said, its to be used for Prostrate Cancer. So, this is the latest addition for the use of this awful drug. My rheumatologist didn't even want to talk to me. So much for doctor's concerns.
Had the injection of Prolia 10/17/12
I have experienced night sweats. Tingling of lips and hands
I am waiting for the results of a test for hypoglycemia which is since the injection
I will not repeat this drug
Be
I have yet to get to the pharmacy. Involved with family health issues (not me). When things calm down, I will let you know.
Hi , I received my first injection of Prolia jan. 2012. No noticeable side effects. I received my second injection in Aug. 2012. Immediately had flu like symptoms. Have had trouble sleeping. Am now experiencing back pain that travels to my neck. My neck aches all the time. I cannot turn my head head without pain. My doctor assured me no side effects. He gave me my first injection for free. Most likely a sample from the drug company. My daily rant has been I can't wait for 6 months to be up. Now after reading all your comments Sounds like a much longer wait. I will report my symptoms to the FDA. I want to finish by saying I am 62 years old and before Prolia was in excellent health. I am a runner, cyclist and weight lifter. I am used to working through pain. This pain is different . It is not exercise induced or from an injury.
Dear Mary, I feel for you. Know exactly what you are saying, I too was in fair health until this injection was given to me, have so much pain in my back, jaw, headaches, cold hands, sweats - the list goes on. Yet the doc tells me its nothing to do with Prolia. But this is offered to Bone Cancer and Prostrate Cancer patients, why is it given to people who don't even have osteoporosis. Big trials and big Pharma reward the docs. Its been 18 months now and how do you get this poison out of you, when its injected, even Prolia doesn't know the outcome.
I had my 3rd Prolia Injection 8 days ago on the 3rd day I awoke with unexplained severe bilataral lower back pain
I had a urinalysis normal, my Kidney function lab normal
then I remembered I had Prolia and looked it up OMG. Now what Rheumatologist, Endocrinologist, Internal Medicine Dr has no clue. How long does it last?
My new Rheumatologist convinced me on Oct 11th that I should definitely have either Prolia or some IV drug that happens once a year. I finally succumbed and since then I have felt terribly nauseous plus my legs feel like heavy weights and very stiff - trouble walking. I was diagnosed with Polymyaligia in Sept 2010 and have reduced this week to 4 mg. Then the Dr said I should take Methotrexate to help the weaning process....I am so frightened to take yet another drug. I will NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PROLIA SHOT....hate the thoughts of waiting 6 months top get it out of my body!!
