Prolia Side Effects (Page 11) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: sal (# 2482)
I'm a good example. I fell about 2 months ago....put my hand out to save myself from a head injury and broke my wrist. It was a minimally displaced radial fracture which required no setting back in place. At 76 they were surprised that it wasn't worse. I felt a bit smug as I am on no meds now for my bones and am taking a high dose of D, eat high calcium diet and walk on a daily basis.{except during our snowy Canadian winters!]I always questioned why I was even put on Prolia and have come to the conclusion that the doctor somehow got some kind of compensation from Amgen. So thanks Sal for that info.

We must be a very large RARE Group!
Re: Gloria (# 2570)
I didn’t know that it was a cancer drug either when I agreed to it. I knew some of the side effects but not all of them because more keep coming out. I too would never have agreed to it if I had known everything. I have had some effects but not as severe as others but I resent not being given all the information so I could make an informed decision. I know that BP (before prolia) I felt great and haven’t felt that way since. Now I will find a Dr, after my move, who listens to me and understands that I know my body better than anyone else.

So rare that there are two separate class action law suits in the USA for that specific problem? Amgen used to state: go to the ER immediately if you have that problem. Apparently it's not that rare or the attorneys would not accept the cases. Generally speaking, when a class action suit against a drug company begins, the attorneys are certain they will win. Be well~
Re: Norma Yuce (# 2587)
You have the right to refuse. I did as bad side effects!
Re: Marginot (# 2620)
I would be willing to bet that it is the Prolia, I had 7 shots and did not research the horrible side effects of this deadly drug, I trusted my doctor and was not give any info about the side effects. My dentist said that I was lucky not to have any tooth problems, but I have had many of the horrible side effects of this drug. The drug they call Prolia is denosumab, also marketed as Xgexa for bone cancer patients. I took it for osteopenia and wish I had never taken. Denosumab is a form of chemotherapy!! It was a horrible drug for me personally! I hope this is helpful to your wife, and hope she gets well soon. I tell everyone to be aware of Prolia. As I said, it has been an absolute nightmare for me, and not sure I will ever recover from Prolia side effects.
Re: sal (# 2646)
So now Amgen is submitting another Osteo drug to the FDA for approval.
This is the second submission for this drug. It seems the FDA refused to approve it in the past due to its record of dangerous cardiovascular side affects !!!! They won't give up !
I guess they haven't made enough money yet !
Re: sal (# 2694)
It seems all the doctors blow us off, they do not want to admit what horrible problems are created by the drug Prolia. As I have posted so many times, in an effort to help others escape the awful side effects that I have had, it is a horrible drug and should be investigated. Amgen is making a killing at our expense and suffering. Take it off the market. The longer it is on the more negative reviews. Patients suffering!!
Was told i needed Prolia, nothing else would work. Did some research and have decided the risks are worse than the osteoporosis-associated risks. I'll exercise and change diet, stop smoking and lower caffeine intake. Hope it works out.
Re: JP (# 2706)
I pray that you decide not to get it. I've suffered so much for nearly two years since I had the one and only injection that totally upset my immune system (causing numerous health issues, among others Graves`disease, dermatological problems, cholesterol imbalance that I never had, TED -thyroid eye disease causing nearly blindness, etc.), that the only thing that gives me peace is the feeling that my experience is helping others. Knowing that I have spread the word about the risks and knowing that some of my friends have not done it only because I am the living proof that the risks are bigger than the benefits..., makes me feel a lot better... then my suffering has not been in vain.
Re: sal (# 2708)
I, too, am still suffering 2 years after my last inj. My mouth sores have never gone away and at the moment have flared terribly. No one seems to have an answer for me or how to relieve the constant stinging feeling. I only wish I could turn the clock back and have said NO to the doctor who told me it was the only answer for my “fragile” bones! At 77 my bone density has not become any worse than it was before the inj's (I had 3). For that matter, the inj's never made it any better. I continue to spread that word to anyone I talk to that they not take this drug and refer them to medschat so they can read the many responses people have written of their experiences with prolia.
Re: lizzie (# 2691)
I have had utis two broken teeth weakness balance problems and skin infections since having 2 prolix shots I’m considering not having anymore no matter what my dr says
Shirley (# 2710) --
Hi Shirley, I experienced afib after my first jab and terrible hives after my second one. My consultant decided not to give me any more. I hope you find other ways to strengthen your bones.
Re: Lizzie123 (# 2716)
It’s been almost 2 years since I lost my front tooth as a result of prolia. My immune system was affected by prolia which resulted in an infection of the tooth. My excellent dentist tried everything to save it but the root was so badly damaged that it finally had to be pulled. Six months later I had to have a bone graft and six months after that an implant. That was 4 months ago and it still is not ready for the crown. I won’t even begin to tell you the cost of this as the insurance companies consider it cosmetic! I’m wearing a “flipper” which is causing terrible gum sores....vanity is a terrible curse for we women but otherwise I’d look like a bag lady whenever I’m in public! So...why wasn’t I told that prolia could cause dental problems? All I can do now, like so many others, is warn anyone considering taking this drug to run, not walk if they are ever coerced into taking it.
Re: Judy (# 2717)
I lost all of my top teeth and it took over a year and thousands of dollars and I still do not look like I have any teeth. Very discouraging. The next time a doctor tells you that the only side affect is a little redness at the injection site, you better run. This drug is poison, please do not take it.
Had my one and only injection in August, 2011, almost 8 years ago. I’m in pain every day. I didn’t do my homework. Never, never never take it. Teeth, legs, face, mouth, u. Amen it.
Re: Judy (# 2766)
wow, Judy, how sad. Have you tried things to cleanse your body? I take Essiac tea, dandelion tea, and activiated charcoal. I am always pursuing whatever things are out there! I am eating more than 7 servings of fruits and veggies (mainly veggies) a day. It's so ironic that I overcame breast cancer and radiation treatments, only to be put on something totally unneccesary in my life by the same doctor who was supposed to be "helping" me. On the up side, I feel my immune system is VERY strong. I work out, take all the supplements necessary for good bone health and to fight cancer. Except for prolia's effects, I feel like a Superwoman!! so I am feeling hopeful that all my hard work will pay off eventually. I have even lost 35 pounds since all this crap in my life started three years ago and I am loving having my figure trim again. Let's keep hoping for positive results!
Re: Sal (# 2771)
Hi I have similar symptoms arm weakness pain in my feat, arms, hands back, always tired and fatigued. I also have hair loss and my long hair is getting shorter and shorter without having a hair cut. My doctor said I have inflammation and I have an auto immune disease but not sure what it is maybe lupus or something else. They keep checking my thyroid as well. All because I listened to the doctor and took prolia. I took it once in 2016 and all these side effects started to happen after a month. I started to have foot pain but I let that go. Then my hair started to fall out in clumps after a month or more. Now I have muscle weakness where I can’t open my son’s water bottle or container. Does anyone want to file a class action suit against Amgen and the FDA for putting this poison on the market in the first place.
I am going into my 3rd month post Prolia and have had nothing less than hell. I have probably had 3 days in total that were adverse effect free. This has ruined my life. Those that say they do not have adverse effects are the lucky ones and few and far between. They should also watch very closely as some people did not get these effects until after multiple injections and are now quite ill. It is “buyer beware” though it is recommended by everyone except god himself. I am never going to give up my fight to have someone pay for ruining my life and the sad part is that I fear it is not over. Be careful and do not go blindly into this treatment.
Re: Judy (# 2838)
It is horrible that this drug does cost us in time, money, pain, and endless frustration. However one of the side effects I have battled with this drug is loss of self esteem. When your hair starts falling out, and your mouth breaks out in sores and your bones hurt, it is hard to be who you are. When your doctor denies the relation to Prolia, you start to feel like a hypochondriac and a whining old person. When you battle fatigue just to minimally function, eventually the person you see in the mirror is not one you want to be. I have not had a shot for a year and have some consistently good days now... I am starting to remember who I used to be.
