I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Canadian~yes, the fracture is from Prolia. You did not fall or do anything in any way to break that leg. It takes a lot of force to break a leg as they are strong bones. Even your Dr. said from Prolia. If you were in a car accident, you could get a broken leg or skiing in the mountains but NOT just around home and in town. Isn't this quite interesting? You took a medication to make your bones strong and it broke your thigh bone. In how many ways can Prolia go wrong. Hugs~Pood

Yes, I still take some magnesium as bones need it to build too. I do not take 500 mg every night. I take it about 3 times/week. Be well~Pood

Here it is now Anne, post number 1066. When I was in the hospital getting the new hip they had cut down on sleep meds so I stayed cut down. Psychiatrist is hoping or thinking it will be gone after the one year mark. I have an appt. in April so we'll see what he has to say then. I seem to be doing fine with 1/2 of the original amount. If he starts taking me off of them and I don't sleep, he will immediately put them back on. Be well~Pood

Canadian~ask your Dr. to test your calcium level. It takes 2 minutes or less. Then you will know for sure if you need to up it which I highly suspect. Maybe he could send a home health care nurse for you so you won't be on your broken leg. And, keep asking to have it checked monthly. Be well~

Canadian~ONJ is Dr. language meaning the jaw bone dies and your teeth fall out. That is why we cannot have much in the way of dental work done while on Prolia. It starts with a muscle up there. Once it starts, it is very, very difficult to get it stopped and regular dentists cannot help us. We have to go to specialists that operate on gums and do dental implants, etc. It doesn't necessarily mean the whole jaw bone but could be if given sufficient time kill it without getting help. It and your broken leg are two of the worst side effects from Prolia. Get well up there~Pood

Sheri~Yes, I still take them. I had a new hip put in and it needs bone to grow around it so I will do everything humanly possible to get that bone growing. Perhaps, after all my replacements are done and healed I may back off to 600 twice a day, not including my milk and yogurt. Be well~Pood

Yes, Anne. I have publicly written here all the names of the sleeping pills my Psychiatrist has me on. After my hip surgery and feeling better, I quit 1/2 of the amount of them. He refuses to take me off of them until I have had one year post Prolia - only know most generic names - Remeron 90 mg & Restoril 60 mg, Valium 40mg and Tizanadine 4mg x 7. I was maxed out on all of them. No more places or meds could he Rx. If Remeron is the anti-depressant that causes sleep I was on 90 mg, the Restoril (if a sleeping pill) was 60 mg, Valium was 40 mg and Tiz 4 mg was 7/day. I took half at bedtime and the other half when I woke up 4-5 hours later. To me it seems as if the Tiz is the 'magic bullet' as I'm sound asleep as soon as I get my head on the pillow. I am allowed a couple in the day time for back spasms -- muscles very unhappy. This is more than sufficient to knock out a horse or a cow but it was what was required for me. I'm sure he will take me off of them very slowly but I want to keep the Tiz as it helps so much with my back. I'm not depressed in the least nor do I have that as a diagnosis but it does have a very sedating effect to it. You seem to be quite a lot like I am so feel free to copy this and take it to your Doc. They'll probably think you are crazy but as far as my Psychiatrist is concerned, anything that helps me and does not cause me harm. As I wrote -- we have nothing more we can add to this mix as it is all at maximum. The only side effect I have from this massive grouping is dry mouth while using the Tiz and then it soon goes away. Medicare doesn't like to pay for the sleeping pill temazepam so I use coupons. For some reason they think it's a very expensive Tier 4 drug that has a walk in cash price of about $17.00. He has to argue with them about them but when I refill tomorrow or Monday they should be covered except for the temazepam. He has written on my chart: Reason for medications: Insomnia. Hope this helps you~ (they have to have a diagnosis and that's mine).

were you taking sleeping pills for your insomnia caused by Prolia. How did you know the Insomnia went away without stopping at least some of the sleep meds. Please give me more background as well as present day information re the Insomnia.

Hi Canadian~one good thing. There are class action suits in Canada. I asked a friend of mine that has lived there for 80 years. Also, you can sue Amgen yourself as this is not supposed to happen with one injection and I don't believe it was listed as a side effect until some time this summer. You have to keep your Calcium with Vitamin D constant. Have the Dr. check your level. I don't know about your mouth. I thought I was getting ONJ and my dentist checked me well and it's just a muscle - same muscle that got the Prolia injected into it. You probably should go to your dentist and ask him/her to look around in there and find out what is hurting. It could be like mine or it could be a fungus or it could be many things. You need your dentist to look at it and s/he will take you immediately if you say "I think I am getting ONJ." I took 1200 mg calcium with 1,000IU Vitamin D, two each in the morning with breakfast and 2 again in the evening with supper. My Magnesium was magnesium oxide 500 mg and I took it as often as I needed it to keep my muscles from cramping which was close to every night. The fracture is totally the fault of Amgen's Prolia. It has zero to do with your supplements. It is not supposed to happen on 1 injection. Call around to find a good lawyer that will represent you because Amgen's Prolia severely damaged you with your fracture. In the US it's usually on contingency and you get 60% and they get 40% plus expenses. Call your dentist Monday!! Love to you~Pood

Asked the Chinese TCM doctor to check the X-ray for me, which part of the femur has problem - he has to download the Java so no response yet. I just had 1 shot, the Prolia cause me so much serious side effects. I had all the side effects listed in the "warning creep" (in your above posting). I think the femur fracture may be due to the Prolia kill off the old bone mellow and remodeling with brittle bone in my body or cannot produce new bone mellow. I never think of I would have the femur fracture now.. My stomach has a little bit released after I took some Zantac or GasX and magnesium etc. I hope it won't come back. Thanks for all your prayers and blessings. I feel jaw pain and would this be the oster. in my jaw. I am also very worried about it.
