Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

Have had a couple of Prolia injections. I couldn't believe the change I my hair. My hair stylist asked if I had a change in medication, My hair has fallen out and the hair on the top of my head is very dry, broken and frizzy. Ugly and difficult to control. I have always had lovely hair. So I began investigating on line and sure enough there are lots of people experiencing hair loss. I will never have another Prolia shot again. And I implore the company to list hair loss as a side effect of this drug.

Hi. I had zoledronic acid yearly infusions for 4 years with absolutely no side effects whatsoever, not even the flu like symptoms that some people have. However, the one Prolia inj. I had has been a nightmare. I have lost nearly all my hair, have vertigo all the time, red eye, numbness and pain in the legs so I cannot sleep, earache, and am so exhausted all the time. Now 5 months into the drug and just hope that these problems get better after the 6th month. The Consultant dermatologist informed me that my hair will grow back, not as much as before, and firstly fluff and then later on proper hair, but it will be a long job, probably 18 months. Amgem have a lot to answer for because these side effects are debilitating and have caused me to be depressed and tearful. I hope that these messages will be read by people before they choose to have this poison in their system, and will prevent them going through all this suffering.

I had prolia two years ago and I have been disabled since. I was highly allergic. My body burned like I had been dropped down into the fire pit. My teeth snapped off like I had taken a hammer to them. My jaws hurt like somebody was taking a screwdriver to my bones. Several times I thought I was having a heart attack. The pain was so severe from my jaw to my chest. There was no doctor anywhere in kingsport tennessee that would help me or I would even try to understand what I was going through. I went to the emergency room several times and they just gave nothing to help me with my pain or misery that I was in. Doctors did not seem to believe me or understand how to help me with my problems and me telling them the whole time how intense the pain was that I was in. My back has never hurt me this intensely. I have always had fibromyalgia and arthritis. When I was 26 years old I had surgery on my knee but I was never in this kind of pain, never in my life. My back feels like it's breaking. My ankles feel like they're falling apart. My leg muscles my side muscles are so intense I can't stand. I have been in bed for 2 years in and out due to do nothing but get in and out of bed. I couldn't feed myself, couldn't do my wash and couldn't do anything. It even hurts to stand in the shower or to get in a bathtub and have the tub rub up against my back and my hips. After 2 years I'm still truck struggling with the intense pain in my legs and my hips. I've been going to the doctor having every test I can have done enough and they don't know how to help me. They give no advice as far as the prolia. They don't know what the heck's going on.

If there's anyone that knows of a legal case against prolia I sure would like to know about it because I think this crap needs to be off the market. It's deadly and whoever invented these needs to go to jail forever. These pharmaceutical companies start acting like they're some kind of gods in that they can make bone regrow. My doctor lied to me and said there was no ill effects to this whatsoever and I'm very upset with him and I'm not finished with him yet at the court we're going to go. I mean who wants to have to lay in bed all the blessed day and suffer and suffer and suffer and suffer and no relief for the pain so intense you can't stand your body because of prolia. I read some of the messages that have been sent into this and I'm impressed to find out that you can take certain things to help rid your body of this poison. I'd like to know more about it if someone would please inform me because no doctors seem like they have any information to do anything. So I sure would like to have some relief this christmas. I had none through last christmas or last thanksgiving in bed. I can do nothing because of the prolia crap. I called the fda and reported to them my calls with prolia and they did not respond too well to me. I'm very disappointed in that this stuff needs to be taken off the market immediately before it kills somebody, puts them in their grave and takes them away from their family.

Does anyone feel like their doctors lied to them concerning the Prolia? I was told nothing except “there were no side effects” Is there anyone having abnormal infection in their gums/mouth. Had 5 rounds of antibiotics and still infected. Had all teeth cut out..I had to and now have to get dentures. Groin pain is strong and I have never had this. Went to ob/gyn and nothing found but one of the side effects of Prolia is groin pain. Says to contact physician of you have groin pain so I did that and no answer. Doctors are at a loss here in Kingsport TN they have no education whatsoever about Prolia.

They either lied or they don't know enough about the drug. They take the drug salesman's reports and then let it go. The $1600.00 they charge for this drug has to be an incentive for them to administer this crap. NO Dr. will admit or think it's Prolia as just as soon as one of them say it does, the attorneys will use them as a witness. That Doctor will have hell to pay by the AMA, and others.

As an update on my wife. We are into our 8th month now. The unbelievable inflammation on the ankles, knees and neck area are gone. She's not experienced hair loss or problems with her teeth. But the overall pain in her back and shoulders is 24/7. Her Capillary bleeding in the arms are almost gone, but she wakes up in the morning with some kind of fluid in the back of her throat and it's made her sick thru the night so she wakes up vomiting.

We live in Colorado, and got her some medium strength CBD oil, and it seems to be working a lot better than when we first tried this. The next bottle I will step up the strength.

Good luck to all, and if anyone finds an attorney that will take this case please share.

I want anyone reading this post to understand that the people who have been given these shots are supposed to continue with the shots forever! My Doctor never, ever mentioned the side effects or that I had to stay on the shots. The pain I am in now is awful. It is one leg starting at the lower buttock and continuing down the back of the leg just past the knee. I live on Advil now. I just stopped the shots on my own. I was sick of the doctors acting as if the loss of my hair didn't matter one bit. Money, money, money! We all know the kick backs are huge!

Re: Julie (# 279) Expand Referenced Message

I was informed by Amgen that during the trials of Prolia only people who were given the placebo lost their hair!!! And they actually want me to believe that. I am one of thousands of people affected by hair loss through Prolia and not a placebo. I am also still suffering from other debilitating side effects after nearly 10 months. What I found so distressing was that they were not even interested in finding out more details about my past medical history and how and why Prolia had such a dreadful effect. They just dismissed it as Prolia not being the cause. I try to warn as many people as possible so that they seriously consider whether it is worth all the misery and life changing effects it may have on their life.

Re: Anne (# 19) Expand Referenced Message

I agree!!!!! These prolia injections must be discontinued immediately!!! I had four injections that caused my hair loss in one month. Not a single hair on my head. I am completed devastated at this dramatic shock. Do not listen to the endocrinologists, they receive commission from pharmaceutical companies (amgen) to sell their product. Take my advice and never listen to them. Do not take these prolia shots. You'll regret it. Even after my four injections, my bone density did not increase. There are other ways to get your calcium. This is a warning!!!

Prolia and Xgeva are the same drug, densoumab. Xgeva is being given to cancer patients with bone cancer. I had a friend that received many injections of Xgeva for bone cancer. At the same time, I was taking Prolia. She and I started comparing the horrible side effect of the drug, densoumab. We were both having very similar side effects. She unfortunately passed away, and she died believing the drug was deadly for her. It affected her heart and other parts of her body. As I have stated so many times, I wish I had researched Prolia before I ever took the first shot. It has been a horrible nightmare for me personally and many others. FDA should take it off the market, I have reported it to them but nothing has been done. Amgen, the drug company is making mega money at the expense and health of many patients. I hope this helps someone to not have to suffer like my friend did and myself.

Re: Momo (# 375) Expand Referenced Message

This drug is a scam for doctors to rip off Medicare. $1300.00 per shot and in three years there was never any improvement in my bone scans. The only improvement went in the doctors pocket. This is a major rip off to the poor unsuspecting patient. I too have had many health problems since I went with my doctor's advice for these Prolia shots. A class action suit is what should be happening but once again the laws broken are many.

Anne~the problem with the FDA is they only put the warning labels on the info sheet that comes with Prolia that is for the MDs to read. Do you really think they read that? I think the FDA is wasting their time. Now, at almost one year, my hair is still falling out. I don't know when it's going to quit -- I think it goes back to the half lives and there will always be that poison in us no matter how long we wait. I'd love to color it but I'm scared to death of what would happen. Next to breast cancer, Prolia is the worst thing that happened to me in my life. Yup, me again~Pood

.I have been taking Prolia for 2 years now. This was the third drug I was place on I wasn't able to use the others due severe symptoms, vomiting and painful joints. When I first started taking the drug I developed a severe case of painful fluid filled red bumps on my cheeks around my eyes. My hair was coming out and thinning , extremely dry and brittle. I went to my dermatologist for an answer, she only prescribed more drugs and injections into my scalp to help with the hair loss, which didn't help. I have experience itchy face and scalp. It takes me quite a while to get over a sinus infection. I did my research and realize what was causing all of these problems. I have decide not to take this drug again. Hopefully this will shed some light to others experiencing the same symptoms.

NO - the side effects of prolia do not wear themselves out in 6 Months!!! I am now at 7 months, 2 weeks, & 4 days, & today is one of the worst PAIN days I have had so far. I contacted Amgen (Maker of prolia) a few weeks ago & voiced my deep concerns. The following week, I received a personal letter & a 26 page side effects & the results of their study on same. WA! WA! big deal. It was in a nice portfolio, Ha! It stated that sciatica (Nervous system) is included with the side effects of which I now have. Prolia IS the cancer drug that causes hair loss. There is one thing you can do about that. Talk to your doc about taking a round of prednisone to stop the hair loss. It definitely helps. The sad part is: most docs are not educated enough on that poison drug. I still say all docs should have to take the inj. prior to prescribing it to innocent people.
