Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 20) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?
Yes. I had one shot 4 months ago and my hair is falling out in handfuls.

The strange pain in your lower right back it started with me to the pain i can't describe all i know is its very painful. So tired of hurting non stop and i feel for everyone else.
Two weeks after my first Prolia shot I began experiencing hair loss...I am continuously shedding hair with the bulb attached. Hair has noticeably thinned. Am no longer using a blow dryer and use a large tooth comb instead of a brush... trying to hold off what I hope is not the inevitable.
Yes- just had one shot 6 months ago. My hair is falling out. My Dr says Prolia doesn’t do this. I think she is wrong. Wondering if I should take another shot now.

I had 2 Prolia injections...the last in March 2015. My hair is still bad. It is barely growing. I color it, so I can tell how fast it's growing...about half as fast as it did. It's brittle.
Re: Pam (# 256)
Where in the info is hair loss mentioned? I missed it somewhere or would not have taken the shot
Re: Bubbles (# 254)
I have the same problem with hair falling out with roots attached. Am hoping my dermatologist can help. .No bald patches yet but my hair has really thinned out. I don't think we grow new roots.. it is really upsetting.
Re: Lizzie (# 261)
I lost nearly all my hair last year after the first and ONLY Prolia injection. My hair is now growing again, a different texture and of course a different colour , but my consultant tells me that after this funny hair ! It will return to normal hair. It is quite strong and does not come out when brushed,so there is hope for you .
Re: Sad lady (# 262)
Thank you so much for your positive response... hope is a good thing!
Re: Bubbles (# 264)
Sorry I must have misread.. I thought one of the comments said that hair loss side effect was buried in the back of a pamphlet.
Re: Lizzie (# 273)
I don't think I had a rash on my scalp. I color my hair, so my scalp is always itchy in places, but I didn't notice more itching than usual....just thinning, breakage and a lot of hair coming out when I washed it. The damage seems to have slowed, but it still isn't growing as much as it used to...3 years after stopping Prolia.
Re: Gamp (# 284)
Have you tried CBD oil for your hair? You take it orally. I just started. Hope it works. I had a shot of Prolia and my hair was falling out. I’ll not take another one.
My hair is extremely thin. I take Folic Acid and I guess I have to give it time to work
Re: Catalina (# 286)

Re: Poodle (# 12)
Yes I have been experiencing hair loss since Prolia. Doctors and pharmaceuticals don't inform us about that.
Re: Lizzie (# 303)
My bone scan after one disastrous shot of Prolia showed a very slight improvement, however I wonder whether it was worth it because of the terrible side effects I suffered. I lost all my hair, but it has regrown and is now quite thick and has a curl which I never had before. The vertigo has now gone but the UTI‘s and also the restless leg syndrome are still persisting after 12 months. People should be warned about these side effects especially the hair so it is important that all bodies involved in monitoring drugs should be notified including your doctor, specialist consultant and Amgen. If only I had found this site before the shot?
Re: Marilyn (# 307)
I too was having hair loss after one injection of Prolia. Plus I was losing strength and weight. I opted to not take it anymore and do s more healthy approach to fighting bone loss.
Re: Marilyn (# 307)
After just one injection I lost all my hair and had terrible side effects some of which are still with me after 15 months, however my hair has grown back, so those that do lose their hair have some consolation that if you stop Prolia then your hair will return. Despite several letters to Amgen they continually deny it saying that the only person during the trials that lost their hair was having a placebo. Clearly they do not have access or can be bothered to read this website. There are many side effects, far too many for this drug to have been approved so easily. Hopefully people can be warned by us that this is not a drug that helps, but instead causes terrible damage to your body, and worse than that the mental distress that comes with all these side effects.
