Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 20)

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

I have just decided to look into the new drug I am on for my thyroid and found that it also causes hair loss. I have been having a lot of dizzy spells so I am trying to take the drug every other day for now.

Everyone on this chat site should call both the FDA and Amgen to report the hair loss and other problems that are not in the literature.

This medication is poison to the body. I had one injection on Mar 7th and have suffered severely. I had hair loss and now it is starting to come back. I am nurse and curse trusting the system that once I loved. You need to read this sight and see what others have experienced. It will shock you. Dawn from Canada

Eyes opened: I had one shot a year ago and am still experiencing all of the yucky symptoms- hair loss, bone pain, rashes, mouth infections. I just had to have one of my parathyroids removed because of a tumor. I am not necessarily linking that to Prolia. HOWEVER, prior to taking Prolia I had high calcium blood readings-- these went down after Prolia. Had I understood about parathyroid function, I never would have gotten the Prolia shot. Evidently the parathyroid controls the calcium production and a problem with it leads to osteoporosis. That is probably why the bone scan indicated the osteo. If I had known, I could have perhaps taken care of the parathyroid problem and avoided the Prolia. So, I am guessing if you are diagnosed with osteo, check out your parathyroid and maybe avoid the whole Prolia nightmare. Right now I am rebuilding the calcium levels and the parathyroid doc says the indications of osteo should diminish over time. I just did not know that the high calcium levels could indicate a parathyroid problem.

I have a problem with hair loss as well. I am using xarelto 20 mg, eltroxin150ug, spiractin 25mg, lioresal 25mg, aspavor 10mg, hexa-block 25mg, as well as Xanor 1mg and tramahexal Co 37,5 for pain. I really have terrible hair loss. I have been using various multivitamins containing iron, replenish k, slow mag and B-CAL-D. Also omega 3,6 & 9. I have also used various products on the market for hair loss without success. Please advise me...

I also experienced the GERD and took the acid drugs for 2 years which contributed to the bone loss. There are magnetic implants you can get for the opening in the esophagus that control the opening of the esophagus and stop the GERD. It looks like a ring and it is day surgery to implant it. Then you don't need the drugs to control the GERD. It was like some awful circle.. you get the GERD and take the drugs which tear down the bones then you take the drug to build the bone which gives you GERD... etc.

It is a vicious circle and it's good to know about this new cure you've described besides the GERD meds. Some days it's controllable without the use of meds but then it acts up again and then on the Zegerid again!

I only had one shot. I have been tired. I am not getting any more. I also was on fosamax. l just take calcium with D3.

Had 2 prolia shots. About 3 months after my second shot started my hair loss. Now it’s time for my third shot. Not doing my third shot my hair loss on top of my head is awful. Now buying hair toppers which even makes it difficult to clip on since hair is gone.

My name is Lavettah Brewer,I am still experiencing the problem with my teeth. I just had to have another tooth pulled due to taking Prolia shot. It almost killed me and I still suffer from after effects. All my teeth are loos and one had died which had to be pulled. There is always the chance that it want heal. It has been 3-31/2 years and I still have problems. My hair falls out by the hand full. There is so much difference in my health now,then before I took that shot.

J, your post made me both sad and angry. Sad for you and mad as hell at the drug company that make this crap! First they scare you about osteoporosis then the doctor presents a cure that is way worse than not treating the osteoporosis. Hopefully, someday, the makers will be held accountable and be forced to pay out to the injured parties. And.....if nothing else, they'll pay in the next life!

Stopped Prolia after second shot due to hair loss which was November of 2018. I feel I may have some hope because the hair on my arms have grown back and hopefully the hair on my head will come back as well.

How many shots did you have? I only had one, a year ago, but still have the after effects.. but yours are way worse than mine. I have the hair loss, and other problems but so far teeth are ok. I am really sorry that you are having to experience these wretched symptoms.

Yes. Prolia made my hair fall out in handfuls. I only took one shot. I’ll mever take it again. Also effected my teeth.

I only use SHANN CHRISTIAN SHAMPOO. I have a full head of hair. Been using only this shampoo for long time. I am 75 and very thick hair. I saw him on TV talk show and they asked him to help this women with hair falling out. Showed before and after. My part was about half inch, no hair but slowly started getting thicker and my hair is now very thick. I am so happy. P.S. not expensive love.
