Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 19)

Updated

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

Prolia and Xgeva are the same drug, densoumab. Xgeva is being given to cancer patients with bone cancer. I had a friend that received many injections of Xgeva for bone cancer. At the same time, I was taking Prolia. She and I started comparing the horrible side effect of the drug, densoumab. We were both having very similar side effects. She unfortunately passed away, and she died believing the drug was deadly for her. It affected her heart and other parts of her body. As I have stated so many times, I wish I had researched Prolia before I ever took the first shot. It has been a horrible nightmare for me personally and many others. FDA should take it off the market, I have reported it to them but nothing has been done. Amgen, the drug company is making mega money at the expense and health of many patients. I hope this helps someone to not have to suffer like my friend did and myself.

Thank you for your post, I agree with everything you stated. I took 7 shots beginning in 2012. I was not told of the many side effects of this horrible drug, Prolia and trusted my doctor and did not research the drug until I started having horrible side effects, last shot was in 2015 and I am still not the same healthy person I was before taking Prolia. As I stated many times, I has been a nightmare drug for me. Again, thanks so much for your post, hopefully it will help others.

I have been taking estropiate since menopause. They do not make it any more, so taking estrogen. And still have my uterus so take progesterone too. I am 75. My bones are good, no cancer, my hair is fine. Sex is good. I think they lied about estrogen being bad after menopause. Your body needs it for bones and hair. Ask your doctor?

My hair has always been fine and thin and I noticed shortly after my second shot which was October 2018 their was lots of breakage and also losing some at the roots. My scalp now shows in many places and I have to use a root concealer to help. After reading the many messages of hair loss from others I went to my dermatologist who agrees that it is Prolia that has caused my hair loss after all other tests ordered to rule out any deficiencies. I am devastated and would like to believe that it will grow back and that this drug will leave sooner or later. I was scheduled for my third shot just two days ago which I canceled last month and will never, ever listen to the doctors who have pushed this drug on me. I have refused for a year and a half not to take Prolia but since my DEXA scan numbers were declining I agreed!! Shame on me!!

I began having hair loss with the first shot of Prolia and back pain, and many of the other side effects of this drug. My hair continues to fall out. and I have tried a lot of different hair loss products, and none seem to help. For me Prolia has been a nightmare for me and I will never take another shot. A horrible drug. Hope this helps others to not suffer like I have from this horrible drug.

My hair is still falling out but I am hoping that the new drug that I am on for my thyroid will help. I worry now because I have terrible pain in my fingers and on each side of every finger I have these lumps growing. Very ugly and painful. I also have one on the underside of my arm. I have no idea what this now is but I blame all of this on Prolia. I was healthy until the shots and the shots never showed any improvement on any bone scans.

Yes I have hair loss from just one shot of prolia. I took it two years ago and after a month my hair started to fall out. I feel like half my hair is gone. Now my hair is much shorter due to breakage. I am so upset I used to have long beautiful hair.

I have just started taking levothyroxine. I take it late at night or early in the A.M. I have also had my medicine for high blood pressure increased. I am in terrible pain right now in my hands with all of these lumps on both sides of my fingers. I wish I had never taken Prolia.

Thanks for your response. I have been taking synthroid, but the hair loss has not stopped (even though the shots were stopped a year ago). I am sorry about the pain you are experiencing. While I am uhappily experiencing the hair loss, I have not had to undergo the discomfort you are dealing with.

Yes! Same here! Hair loss has happened and continues to get worse. My hair is much shorter now when I never cut it. I used to have long beautiful hair before the poison was injected to me. Also, I have pain in my back and in my feet. I also have muscle weakness in my arms and hands. I have never in my life ever been weak before. I used to be a private personal trainer in fitness. So yes! Everyone who took a shot of Prolia should get together and come up with a really good plan to file a lawsuit against Amgen and all the people who created this type of drug. In the documents before one decides to take it.. it does say anywhere that it could cause hair loss. Doctors pond it off like it is the best thing for your bones but in reality, it is the worst drug for your bones. How could they claim it is good for your bones when it literally stops your bones from rebuilding and instead it builds on old bone leaving you with even more fragile bones than before. I wish these drug companies could tell the truth about every little thing that is in the drug and exactly how it is made. Also the ones creating it should test it on themselves before giving it to the public as their personal Guinea pig. Will I ever have my beautiful hair back or my strength?

From Prolia—- hair loss, teeth had 4 root canals, almost lost all my teeth. Other side effects almost killed me. If ever they take this company to court for all the problems and sickness for taking this shot, I’m there all the way. Something needs to be done about what happens to people. I’m always ready to share my experience.

This drug is a scam for doctors to rip off Medicare. $1300.00 per shot and in three years there was never any improvement in my bone scans. The only improvement went in the doctors pocket. This is a major rip off to the poor unsuspecting patient. I too have had many health problems since I went with my doctor's advice for these Prolia shots. A class action suit is what should be happening but once again the laws broken are many.

It doesn’t say anything about hair loss. When I wrote that, I missed the word and wrote that it does talk about hair loss but No it definitely does not in the Prolia documents.

When I took the oral Fosomax I experienced terrible GERD and all the doctors involved said it was not due to that drug. Now years later they all agree and it is now listed as a side effect. GERD is now an illness I deal with almost daily and the drugs to help keep the acid down (get this) can cause bone loss. Go figure! Some where in this post it was mentioned that hair loss is on one of the end pages of the drug information but again my doctors are adamant that the drug does not cause hair loss.

Like me, my sister was on Fosamax for years starting in the mid 90s. She ended up with an esophagus that was entirely ulcerated. She was in the hospital in very serious condition for two weeks and her doctors said it WAS caused by Fosamax. My doctor vehemently denies side effects from Prolia, but I definitely experienced hair loss. It has been ten months since my last Prolia shot (the third) and while I am not noticing re-growth, I think the loss I notice when shampooing is a little less. One clear sign that it was Prolia is that I am again shaving my legs after not having to do so for months. The hair loss was but one of the side effects I experienced.

I use SHANN CHRISTIAN BIO MED shampoo - It works on getting new hair growth. Been using it for over 2 years and my hair always has new growth. It really works for me. Now my part is full and No bald line. It helped a woman on the tv show the Doctors and results were amazing so I have been using it for a couple of years. Not expensive.
