Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 18)

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

Gosh Linda and Shirley...an infusion center? I really did not know it was related to a chemo drug. I think there should be a legal suit and I certainly will join that. I did also have skin itching, but it was not severe, and until now I did not even think about it as a side effect of Prolia. I would like to hope at least we don't get cancer since it's partially chemo related...

I had to go to an infusion center at the hospital. A bit disconcerting. I've had 3 shots and each time I have lost a ton of hair. I wont take this shot ever again. I wish there was a legal suit about this. I would be first in line.

Been on Peoria for six months. Had my first shot now due for second. Cancelled my second appt. Due to hair loss and itching. After reading these reports from others and finding out it is a drug used in chemo. Really makes me angry. Dr told me he could give me thr injection but when I got my first shot,I had to go to the infusion dept to receive the injection. Which is where you go for chemo. I had bad feelings before I started should have went with my instincts.

Actually it is saw palmetto for women, complex of B vitamins and vitamin A. Took me a very long time of searching the net to find the exact combination we need. It will stop the hair loss and with the vitamins added in it will stimulate new growth and that is why the vitamins were added into the mix. I'm getting into mine as soon as my surgery is over on Tuesday. It obviously cannot work while on Prolia but when off of it our hair should return to better than normal. I'm tired of shedding worse than a dog. Somehow I wonder if Prolia really has more of it's twin, exgiva, in it. The twin is for chemo. Another lie by Amgen??? Pood

I thought about hair extensions, but it's expensive. I thjnk we just have to make the best of it and hope it grows back. I just won't take Prolia again.

Yes I am daily. My hair is coming out by the handfuls. Much upset and not sure what to do. Andrea

Hair loss has been a nightmare. Every day I see more and more hair loss. I dread having to wash my hair because the floor of the shower is covered. I want to stop Prolia.

One lady said she would rather have the hair loss than fractures. I think there are enough possible side effects that I can't justify taking it. Both my MD and my Dentist said they felt the possible side effects were preferrable to the bone issues. I have always listened to my doctors, but this is the exception. I'm going rogue and praying my hair will recover, but 2 years later it has not. Sounds vain, but it was long and has always been the asset people complimented me on.

Funny, but I was thinking the very same thing.
They don't list hair loss as a side effect. I am going to look for another option. Prolia is not for me.

I just had my first injection 3 weeks ago and already losing hair. There are no other changes in my diet or routine. I am quite concerned & disappointed if I am losing this much so soon. I will be investigating alternatives.

I placed my order. Most of the women said the Saw Palmetto made their hair stop falling out and made it shinier and healthier. We may be on to something here. I will keep everyone posted on how it goes after Prolia. Pood

Correct. I think there should be a legal suit against the makers of Prolia for not divulging that it causes hair loss. This is so wrong.

Thanks Poo! You are right about having nothing to lose. Just more hair in our case. I am willing to try just about anything at this point. Best off luck!!!

What may work to help our hair from Prolia is to take Saw Palmetto, B vitamins and also A. Was looking around the net about it and found that formula. Not much to lose and everything to gain so I'm going to give it a good try. Be well~Pood

I did read a very small blurb about hearing issues with Prolia, but it was nothing conclusive. I kind of think if you already had a problem, it worsens it. There are bones in your ears too so it makes some sense it would attach to those and thicken them...I don't know if that would cause any issues. I already had some loss and ringing in my ears. Now it's like I have cotton stuffed in them and the ringing is worse. There is nothing they can do about it. I'm hoping the hair will straighten out and grow eventually. Good luck to you.

I have been having pain and a crunching sound on the left side of my face for quite a while. The pain has been getting worse. I thought it was TMJ, but now I wonder if this all has to do with Prolia? I don't think I am going to continue on. I just had my latest injection in June. I think that was my last.

I have been getting Prolia shots 2 a year for quite awhile and there hasn't been any change in my bone scans. But, as for side effects, there are plenty and none that are good. Hair loss, bone cramps, terrible pain in my cheeks and not my face. Hot flashes and itchy skin in unmentionable places. As to the two doctors who advised this, they roll their eyes. I have quit all shots as of today.

I am losing my hair at the crown too. It has been fallen out extremely fast. It is funny that you mention hearing problems. My left ear has been feeling strange. I had my hearing tested a few months ago because I thought there was a problem. They couldn't find a problem, but I am still having problems. Is this all worth it? I am questioning taking this for any length of time.
