Prescribed Methadone For Chronic Pain, How Long Would It Take For Percocet To Get Out Of My System If Used Just Once (prescription Was Stolen)
UpdatedI have a script for methadone for chronic pain and have been on vacation, well someone was nice enough to steal my last two days worth of meds here on vaca, well my partner has 15 mg oxycodone that I can take to help me thru till we get home yet I am weary due to my doc appt in ten days, will a days worth of perks be gone in ten days not using them on a reg basis? Or should I try n tough it out.
Most narcotics are out of your system, for a standard urine test, within 4 to 5 days after taking them.
However, you could run into a problem with not having the Methadone in your system on the test, as most doctors use these tests to make sure someone is actually taking their prescription medication and not selling it.
Your best bet would be to report the theft to your doctor, immediately.

Are there any other questions?
I made it threw till I got home. I have been on my medication for two years and it was a long 8 years before that I was able to actually have them prescribed to me. I have many back problems in addition to shoulder problems(have had three surgeries due to dislocating many times) none the less, I was not ready to start all over again when now I have finally been given the relief I need to live a somewhat normal life, almost pain free. I was scaring myself about the pain, because I know the start of withdrawals the pain is much more intense, or it seems that way. We cut our vacation short(a little more costly, but worth it really) and came home a day early. I thank you for your help, anyway! I was hurting but thank goodness with methadone, it stays much longer in your system and I made it mostly because of that reason. FYI whomever stole my meds, only got the last few days of what I took along with me, so I was only without two-three days. I NEVER take my entire script with me on such trips, due to that specific reason. I will also say, I have learned so much on this site and will keep coming back for follow up research! I want to thank everyone here for all their wonderful advice and helpful information. I am so happy to have found a site where I can freely speak to others in same situations and actually get some answers!! God Bless Everyone Here!!

RENE:
Seems like you and I are in the same boat. I am trying to find a doctor who will prescribe Methadone in Warner Robins, GA. I take my meds illegitimately and as prescribed; never sell or lend any of it. I believe in being totally honest with my doctor. Good luck on finding what you need in Jasper, AL.
3 days. 4th day your good. Drink lots of water I've been taking monthly urine tests for 7 years
For Rene and Richard... Am sorry you're going through problems finding docs who will give you what you need. And Rene, I feel you.. I had a pain mgmt. doc lose his license in April 2010 and I only had a month's notice! Long story since then so won't take up your time.
I can't help as far as looking for a PMD, as I live up the East coast in VA and it took me quite a while to find this practice I'm going to now. I made sure first visit I brought mounds of test results, four back surgery history (2002-2004), after which I became permanently disabled and awarded Social Security Disablity Insurance in THREE MONTHS (unheard of today), without the help of an attorney, all on my own. I haven't worked sine June, 2004. Plus complications over 12 years, and now MORE complications due to other medical problems. PMD's are not easy to find... those that give medication I mean. There are 28 offices in the Washington, DC, MD, VA area. "National Spine & Pain Center" I was referred to by one of my orthopedists. Even though I have an office four miles from my home, hardly any of the 28 offices prescribe meds. I have to drive 60 miles round trip to one of their other offices but the doc I see there is probably one of the best in the State, or in the Country when you take into consideration the fact he's an expert diagnostician. I can't complain at all and was grateful when he said he'd treat me. I'm a bit frustrated that they are lax in wanting to give out meds, but he agreed to continue it and increased my Methadone by 10mg to 50 per day. I volunteered to come off the Oxy with the Meth increase but that lasted all of a week. Even 20mgs was better than nothing. He dislikes I was taking Oxy, (my Internist was prescribing meds for over a year) and regardless of the fact he's not certified to prescribe Methadone for addicts on maintenance, he was able to prescribe for pain.
Your doc who was suspended had no referrals to give you? Someone here on this forum (tho not this thread) suggested local hospitals for PMDRs and some may have them in house. Kudos to her tho sorry I forgot name. Wish I knew this 2-1/2 years ago. I know this thread is over a year old so I don't know if anything still applies or is current. I hope ya'll found what you needed.
And Rene... I think you meant to say you took your meds 'legitimately' and not ILlegitimaely :-)
Verwon is right, they will check to see if you are taking your medication like your supposed to and if they find something else besides methadone that wont look good. The Dr will think your selling them or just not needing them good luck
In urine it shows up to 5-7 days blood 3-5 hair 90 days. Good luck
in 72 hs
72 hours max. No show in urine. U r good.
Anyone know anything that will help me? How long will the oxycodone stay in my system when sent to a lab?
Yes the OxycodoneCR your taking won't be out of your system. The Percoset will be out of your system if you don't use them regularly. However, the OxycodoneCR that you've been taking for a few days I'm guessing will still be trace amounts in your blood. Tell him/her the truth and what you had to do. 15mg isn't going to get you high, not if you're taking Methadone he knows that. Best of luck, Warren
Perks won't help at all its apples and oranges I'd try aderol it gives endorphins and energy to get u through trazadone and kolonopin.or go to the emergency room and clonidine or your life will sucks.I'm till u get methadone if u have any space it out!
You have no worries except if your not taking your methadone as directed, doctors look for levels to make sure you're using the prescribed drug's responsibly. Good luck!
2 - 4 days. If it's a urinalysis.
Warren with all respect please don't give mis-information. It only takes hours at the most a day to clear out of your blood and 2 to 4 days for a clean urinalysis...yes there are factors that can extend the drugs to stay in your system but ten days he will be fine.
Obviously two days worth of "missing" methadone does not equate to you being short 10 days! Stop lying to yourself! You are an addict! You would it be on methadone for chronic pain, you are on it for addiction. People are not given methadone as a choric pain meds unless they have a opioid addiction! Even if you chose to stick with this story, the fact that you are afraid and know you will go throw withdrawals without something shows you are an addict. The medication stays in you urine for 7-10 days so you screwed yourself either way! The best thing to do is be honest because telling the truth will be much more telling than using someone else's medication which is illegal (another sign you are a full blown addict)! Your doctor will be more willing to work with you if you are honest because they know every story in the book and this one you claim is the most common line given to doctors! You will be cut off and not treated! If your medication was truly stolen, you should have called the police and reported it.
They are the same as Methadone. It actually helps my chronic pain better than Methadone and come up testing as the same.
The Percocet should be out of your system in ten days as long as you only take one dose, one time.
So stop with the BS, so you are now a expert on addiction. You read one paragraph of someone situation with no physical exam, no mental health exam and decide that you are everything about the health of this person when in fact it's just your biased opinion. That is all it is your opinion from someone who has no training in addiction because you do not realize that people can get physically dependant on a medication but that does not necessarily mean the person is addicted to it. For example if I was to just stop taking my blood pressure medications that I have been taking for 5 years my body will go though a withdrawal with physical symptoms. For example my blood pressure will go up much higher then what was normal even before I took the medication. While I had no problems with swelling ankles or hand while the medication or before I started the medication, when just stopped my hands and feet will noticeably swell up. Again I rarely get headaches now on my medication or before taking it but if I just stop my head ends up raging for days. Now does this mean I am addicted to my blood pressure medication or do I just have one of the symptom that in itself is not enough to diagnosed someone as addict. I suggest you keep your medical diagnosis to yourself and let medical expert do theirs experts.

You should not speak on things that you obviously know nothing about! Methadone is used & prescribed by pain management for pain, it is NOT just used for Addiction!! Ignorance is not always bliss... ??
Re: Stop with the BS (# 17)
Not everyone who takes methadone is an addict. I know for a FACT that I was living in Tennessee and I have numerous health issues (ALL legit and I had X-rays MRI CAT SCANS NERVE CONDUCTION TEST ULTRA SOUND and any and every other test one can imagine), I was on almost every narcotic from Vicodin to Hydromorphone also while on practically every narcotic I also was on Methadone and I have never sold, not had any of my medication taken away, I have never been branded as a junkie or drug addict and ALL of my medication came from a SPECIALIST. So please get your facts straight before you go and call someone a liar and or a drug addict. I have medical records and print outs for everything I have been THROUGH (not throw) and prescribed. I thought that this forum was to HELP people NOT brand someone else as a drug addict liar. God bless any and every single one of you who ARE truly chronic pain patients.
Re: Riley (# 2)
All good practices. I was about to say if you’re on it for chronic pain why would you have it stolen from your home when you were on vacation without it. But now I understand a little better. Also always report that stuff to the police. It’s so much easier to get a replacement prescription or get it refilled early if there is a police report on file. I take buorenorphine for chronic pain and to keep me honest!!! I get tested. My dosage hasn’t changed. Ceiling effect. So I can’t abuse it. I have a lock box. I take what I need on vacation and plan I’m advance. I will have a doctor write 2/14 day supplies or a 2 week supply so I don’t run out while out of state. It’s a medication not every pharmacy carries. And every state is different. Also I don’t want to return from vacation and I have to have my appointment the next day. We take two vacations a year and I plan ahead so that I get my refill about a week before I go. This way I have medication to take with me and medication when I get back and medication in case something happens. And this way I can come back from vacation without worrying about having to go to an appointment the next day. What you did was smart. And kudos to you for avoiding taking the Percocet. That is a slippery slope.
I had an open or compound fracture 2 years ago of my Ulna and radius. An open distal radius and ulna fracture. They call it a wrist fracture but there are no bones in the wrist. You have a arm bones and you have hand bones. But somehow it has this name. But the pain was surreal. I also had a concussion from the fall and I have amnesia between the three days that I broke it and when I woke up from the nerve block after surgery screaming in pain in my bed. I remember nothing of it. They had put me on Percocet for the fracture and then hydrocodone for post surgery. And my buprenorphine doctor told them that I would need a higher dose because otherwise it would not kick into my system. Because buorenorphine is anti agonist. They didn’t listen. They gave me 12 hydrocodone to take post surgery. The lowest dosage of 5 mg and they told me to take two every four hours. That’s maybe a days worth. And they said start taking it before the nerve block wears off well sure enough by that point you have no medication left. The nerve block lasted about 14 hours.
But I try to always listen to my doctor. Or doctors. I ended up not asking for more medication and I went back on the subutex. But I have had it stolen months. And I filed a police report. I only had about a three day supply stolen because that’s all I carry with me. But those three days are enough to screw you up really bad. Especially if you take a certain dosage per day. But the presence of the police report allowed for me to get the prescription filled early. You have to file a police report if there is a theft. Just saying. It makes things a lot less difficult When a distant family member or someone you know steals from you.
They waited till we were out on the kayaks and then raided our locked camp.
But some people will do anything. But it sounds like you did everything right. So congratulations. I’m hoping that the methadone is working for you. They tried putting me on Suboxone but I have a seizure disorder. So my only options were methadone or buprenorphine. I chose the latter because I am an addict. And I’m careful and I’m good. I tell doctors the truth. I haven’t tested dirty in almost 15 years. I had one screwup at the very very beginning. I don’t miss my appointments and I don’t miss my tests. Maybe I’m too honest. I don’t know. But once you Lose that trust and you get it back. You do everything you can to keep it. Good luck to you. I wish you all the best. And I’m so glad that someone on this website did the right thing. I also take clonazepam for my seizures. But it is one of the few medications that works. And I have been on the same dosage for 10 years without a dose change. Although I did find out the blue ones don’t work. They don’t even show up in my labs. They don’t show up in my cheek swab, they don’t show up in my urine. But the yellow ones are green ones do. So the best of luck to you and I’m glad you did the right thing. Be proud of yourself.
Re: JAM661 (# 20)
You are addicted to blood pressure meds? Wtf??? You my friend are truly an addict. The guy's story is bulls***.
Bravo and well said! A great analogy too! Our bodies physically become addicted and the fact that she only took so much with her tells me she takes it legit. Otherwise, she would have all of it where no true addict will leave meds behind!
