I am prescribed Apo-prednisone 5mg for chest infection Am to take 8 every morning .for 5 days, took for 2 days and then missed this morning when should I take the dose that I missed . My dermatologist prescribed me 12 tabs of prednisone at 5mg for the first 5 days, then 8 tabs at 5mg for 5days, then 4 tabs at 5mg for 5 days, then 2 tabs at 5mg for 5 days, then 1 tab at 5mg for 5 days, then 0.5mg for 5 days, then stop. Should I be worried about the high dosage in the beginning of my dosage? Please Help? ## Hello, Yvonne! How are you? For some conditions that is how it's done, a high dose for awhile, which is then slowly tapered, so yes, this is normal. It is the tapering that is important, if you're on it for more than 5 days. Hi - is it possible to have bad side affects from only a 7 day course of the drug prednisone? I've been battling bronchitis and was prescribed 20 MG of the drug last Monday (almost 2 weeks ago). I was prescribed 40MG the first day, then 20MG a day for the next 6 days (my last dose was last Sunday). My bronchitis is alot better, but everyday I've had these wierd sinus headaches and diziness that start about noon and get worse throughout the day. I also had really bad insomnia - didn't sleep for almost 2 days after finishing the prescription. I've been taking Tylenol PM which has thankfully allowed me to sleep, but I don't like how I'm feeling during the day. I also feel alot of fatigue and bloating (my legs especially). I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy and was given Prednisone to reduce inflammation. I was on 120 mg for 3 days. Then 80 mg for 3 days. Then 40 mg for 3 days. Then 20 mg for 3 days. Then I was done. I have been off for a week now and within that week I have developed severe acne on my chest, back, neck, face, etc. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I have read acne can be a side effect, but most things I have read have came from people who were on Prednisone for years or months. ## These steroid class medications tend to linger and continue to have effects in your body, for awhile, after you finish your course of treatment. Rapid heart rate. Shaking. Heavy breathing. Etc. That's what's wrong. Is it the medication? ## Watson Pharmaceuticals lists this tablet as containing 20mgs of Prednisone, which is a steroid class medication. The FDA does report these issues as being possibly side effects. You may also experience nausea, headache, nervousness, and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi i today is my girdt day i habe ro take this medication , i have to take 1tab oral, two times a day . Yesturday i was given a steroid shot however today when i woke up my upper stomach hurts i feel very uncomtable it still hurts !!! I am travelling and my shoulder is hurting bad. Usually, my doctor prescribes Methylprednisolone dose pack every time I have this condition, but Methylprednisolone is not available in the country where I am in now. Can I take Prednisone instead and if so what dose and for how long?

I m taking this since last 2 yrs, I want to know about side effects of it. I have bronchitis and have some Prednisone pills that have expired on 10/15/15. Are they still ok to take? ## This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new. Thus, it would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new supply, if required. is it safe to take prednisone while taking hydrocodone acetaminophen 5-325? ## @dovieann, I searched for possible interactions via The University of Maryland's drug interaction tool and haven't seen any discrepancies listed between Prednisone and Hydrocodone/APAP. So based off that information alone, I'd say there shouldn't be any problems using the two together outside of their own individual side effects. hi, im an asthmatic, and i am taking 20 mg prednisone twice a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, is it ok to continue taking up this medicine even though i dont have an asthma attack? ## You should only take it, if your doctor has instructed you to do so, long term use of it, according to the NIH, could result in acne, fluid retention, weight gain, and congestive heart failure. I have a case of the gout and this medican was prscbr: for me by my Dr. to treat my gout i have taken 4 pills 1 every 12 hr (2 pre day) it has not gotten better ## Predisone is a steroid class medication and while it can help with the inflammation that can occur from gout, it is unlikely that it will treat the underlying cause, which is excess uric acid, so is isn't likely to really help clear up the condition. It may also cause some side effects, such as: nausea, weight gain and fluid retention, which could actually worsen your condition. Have you discussed this with your doctor? The Doctor prescribe to my wife Prednisone 20 mg per day, for backeacke She taken 2 in the morning and after taking another one 20 mg next morning rashes apear on both arms above the anckle. Red patch with a large clear fluid buble in the middle. We went to Emergency at St. Peters Hospital, in New Brunswick, NJ. Doctors didn't figure up what is the problem.
