I am suffering from Rhemitoid Athritis for the past 12 yrs currently I'm using betaprofen for pain and swelling and Prednizone prescribed by my Docter but its not helping much is there anything else I can use for the swelling and pain its getting worse. ## Since you aren't in the U.S., I am not sure what else is available for you to try. I was started on a very high level course of Prednisone of 12 50mg pills twice a day for three days and then it would be gradually decreased throughout the week. Was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Im terrified that this is WAY too much. I have been on the drug Prednisone, for an average of 13 years. My doctor wants me completely off Prednisoe, but in it's place Plaquinil. i have prednisone 5052 watons they are ten years old are the pills still good? will they still work? ## No, they have likely lost most of their effectiveness by now and you should just dispose of them. Even when pills are left in the factory sealed container, the longest shelf life is usually only 3 years. That's usually how it's done, a higher dose is started, then you move to a lower one.

A 90 year old woman was diagnosed with penumonia about 4 weeks ago which required hospitalization. She was placed on an antibiotics was not getting any better. Was rushed by ambulance to the hospital for choking and was placed on prednisone of 50 mg/day for a week with a plan to have the prednisone decreased by 10mg/day every week there after, until weaned. She starts today with 20 mg(s)/day for the next week, but has not regained any of her energy. I am praying for a miracle that she will regain her strength, but it does not look very promising. Hey, I just wanted to know what might happen if I stopped taking prednisone for few days and then continue taking it like I am suppose to. The thing is I found out that I have Sarcoidosis so I have to take Prednisone for 3 months and I started out with one and a half(25mg) tablets for a month and then to one tablet for the second month and half for the third month and then stop. Well i've been on it for a month and I just reduced it to one tablet but I stopped taking it for few days cause I wanted to drink. So I drank about two days and about 30 beers and started to take one tablet a day like nothing happened.
