Just found out the I have a cervical hernia and E.R.doc prescribed 20 mg of prednisone and 750mg. of Methocarbamol, "already taking pain med Hydro 10/325 for knee pain/"I'm due for a knee replacement soon". Until I get to my doc on Monday, and get referred to a specialist; will any of the meds interfere with the prednisone, or increase the side effects? I didn't have time to consult with the pharmacist; "plz help". Thanks in advance . ## Hello, Bolo357! How are you? I am very sorry about the problems you're having. Is it OK to use prednisone 3 months after the expiration date? ## Hello, Dina! How are you? This is a steroid class medication and they do tend to degrade over time, so it's most likely not going to be as effective as it was, before it was expired. It would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes, acne and fluid retention. Is there anything else I can help with?

My mom has been on prenisone (5mg-20mg) for over five years now for the treatment of fibromyalgia. First the doctor thought it could be polymyaglia, but when the symptoms never got better he diagnosed her to have fibromyalgia. Her pain is all throughout her body and sometimes feels like she can't get out of bed do to sore muscles and joints. She is constantly bruised not knowing how she got them. In 2010, she had symptoms of a heart attack, the doctor told her to "up" her prednisone and she would be fine... Noon that day she suffered a major heart attack. Now, four years later and 60+ pounds greater her has become dependent on the drug. She feels so dependent of this drug becuase she feels like nothing else "helps" the pain. How do I get her help? ## Hello, Ashely! H...

How do I taper off of it. It has caused me so many different side effects. I have been taking it for 8 months ## Hi Alice, Sorry to hear about your challenges with Prednisone. From what I've researched online, it's usually best to work closely with your doctor on developing an appropriate tapering schedule while monitoring your progress as often as he/she see's fit.. This is because the amount of time that it may take to wean off Prednisone not only depends on the type of disease being treated, the dose/duration of use, but also other individual medical considerations as well. And if you were to experience any complications during the tapering process, at least in this situation your doctor would understand what's going on and would try do whatever it takes to help you r...

What should I expect when taking one 20 mg of Prednisone daily for 14 days, and when should I taper off of it? ## Actually, if you're taking it for fewer than 21 days. there is no need to taper, unless your doctor has specified otherwise. And what reputation are you speaking of? It can cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and fluid retention, but the bigger risks are usually only associated with long-term use. ## Prescribed prednisone for arthritis symptoms (20 mg). What are the risks of dependence on this drug? What is it like to discontinue?

if the bottle says take 6 tablets a day for two days, then 5 tablets a day for two days, then 4 tablets a day for two days, then 3 tablets a day for 2 days, then 2 tablets a day for 2 days, then 1 tablet a day for two days, then 1/2 a tablet a day for two days. ## You should follow the instructions exactly as on the label, tapering is essential to prevent complications from withdrawing too fast, since this is a steroid class medication. You can take them all at once, or split them up throughout the day, taking them all at once may cause more side effects, such as nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

Supposed to take 6 tabs in 24 hours first day But I took 4 tabs already in 6 hours Should I be worried ? ## Hello, Liz! How are you doing? No, they can be split into separate doses or taken altogether. However, taken so many very close together might increase the nausea and dizziness that can be side effects. You may also experience fluid retention, rapid heart rate and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, my wife began a rash on her hand that spread to the arm and then the other arm, neck, and upper chest. Deep pain and weakness began about 2 weeks into the rash. Doctors were consulted in Comoros where we live, blood tests done. Even the doctors said testing is not good here so we traveled to Nairobi. 2 doctors, several blood tests and meds later she is still not well. Latest doc says muscle infection and prescribed Prednisone and Nexium. We are concerned about steroid side effects. Doc prescribed these because of a CPK level of 616. Thank you for any advice! ## Hello Chris! Who is your wife doing? What did they give her for the infection? Is she on an antibiotic? Did you suffer any other adverse effects? Once again, I must reiterate that if you think your health or the health/life of a loved one may be in danger due to an overdose, please do not post on a free website and wait for an answer. You should always contact poison control or go to your nearest emergency treatment facility. While there are those of us here that are always happy to help, if we can, it just isn't possible for us to administer life-saving measures over the Internet, if such would be required.

I was prescribed 20 mg of prednisone for an abnormal lump on my leg, i wasn't aware of any of the terrible side affects and took it the first day feeling quite moody and pretty much lost sense of time, when i went to bed my legs began to ache terribly and my heart wouldn't stop pounding. I didn't sleep much at all and when i did i experienced terrible and odd nightmares. I am supposed to take it for 5 days once a day, but i refuse to take anymore because i simply can't handle the side effects. I haven't taken my second dose... i feel okay since i haven't taken anymore but am afraid since i have read and heard how dangerous it is to suddenly stop taking a medication. Will only one days dosage affect me? Please help....... ## Hello, Mrs. Parsons! How are you doing?...
